Hiya,

My children are babies, so it isn't a concern at all, yet!

I'm just thinking about the future and different discipline, etc. we will use, so we are both aware and consistent.

I'll of course have parental controls, etc.

However, what age do you stop that? What age do you stop getting to read their messages? What age do you stop looking at what they're posting and doing online?

Thank you x

It depends how much you trust them. It's a combination of individual and age.

30? Wink

My 13 year old knows the PIN number for our cable TV so now.

But I've got the filter on the internet which should block the worst porn etc and I see no reason to lift that whatever age he is as I don't want to accidentally come across it myself.

Depends entirely on the child. At 12 my daughter was trustworthy, honest and very mature for her age. At 12 my eldest son is chaos and I wouldn't trust him not to burn the house down! Same genes, same upbringing, totally different parental monitoring needs.

My eldest is a 6th form and can look at whatever they want, my youngest is about to start high school and they have a long wait before I take off the internet controls; probably at 16. I have 'forgotten' when my eldest didn't have them, it's not a set age but more when they are mature enough.
