Last October we booked a holiday to St Lucia in May with Hayes & Jarvis/Thomson Worldwide as a treat for my 50th birthday. I've been so looking forward to it checking their facebook page on a weekly basis to see what events they did etc. H&J phoned me last week to say they'd overbooked our resort and offered us an alternative resort. Having checked the alternative resort out, we didn't feel it was upto the same standard and in fact checking Thomson's webpage today is actually £200 cheaper! Am I being unreasonable to expect a holiday company to offer a substantial upgrade when they mess up your holiday!! H&J told us that their T&Cs said they only had to offer us comparable accommodation (which it appears not to be and we told them so). In the end we decided to cancel on the basis that having spent a substantial amount of money on a holiday we were not prepared to accept 2nd best and effectively allow H&J choose where we went. I'm now not going to get the Caribbean holiday I hoped for because H&J messed up! Am I being unreasonable?
