I suppose it depends on how much you value non-verbal cues and nuance

What shall we have for dinner? - perfectly acceptable text.

I feel like you might be struggling - requires face to face chat and careful observation of non-verbal cues.

YABU.

I have a stammer so I love this development. I'm absolutely terrible on the phone but better in person.

depends on context.

texting your mate to check what time they're getting to the pub, as you're already there and getting drinks - fine.
Texting your mate "How was ur day?" when they get to the pub - not great!

It depends on the context.
Quite a bit of misinterpretation goes on via text and email that could be avoided if people talked to one another.

I much prefer text or email. I hate talking, and hate people who talk too much.

Silence is golden....
