To not want to stand at my window looking for the parking man

I live in a council house. They are responsible for repairs. I live down a road which needs permits.
I am constantly having work men come here and asking me for my parking permits which i have to PAY for or ask me to stand at my window and stare outside for the parking man.
I use to give them parking permits but i asked for the cost back from council and they said no, it cost between 20-40 depending on which book i get and council said they have to find other parking.
There is parking not to far but they dont use it due to carrying stuff.

When they ask me to stand and stare i say no because its not my problem end of the day and they are legally obliged to complete the repairs.

So don't do it. They sound ill-prepared for their task.

You can apply to have the parking restrictions lifted temporarily for a certain vehicle - have a look on your council's website - you'd need to know the licence plate, but you can ask the workmen for that I assume?

Constantly having repairs? Why, is your house falling down?

Just tell them you are too busy to stand by the window, you have other things to do. And don't give them your parking permits if you are buying them specifically for the workmen. Tell them you don't have one.

Don't stand there, don't give them parking permits. They can unload and then go park.

Yanbu - they are obliged to do the repairs and finding appropriate parking is their problem - you should not be spending your time or money on this. Is it the same council sending the workmen as would be issuing the parking fines? Bunch of incompetents.

let them sort it out themselves and if they get a ticket its their problem.

So the council are giving tickets to their own employees, the council sounds like it is run along the lines of an Ealing comedy Smile

No doubt it is all outsourced and everyone enjoys catching the others out.

OP it is their issue, have an excuse ready that you can't watch the van as you need to do xyz, makes you wonder how councils got in this state.
