DD 6th birthday party tomorrow at our local Italian restaurant .

16 children in total - all between 5 and 6 years .

All parents are dropping off and collecting after 1.5hours.

I had enlisted a friend to help me (as well as exH - dd's dad) , so 3 adults .

My friend has just cancelled on me as she's been called in to work . Leaving me and exDH.

It's short notice to organise someone else.

It will all be ok right ??

I would ask a few parents to stay!

Depends what you have planned, how much use he is, and whether as exes you will work well together.

We get on great so no issues there and he's a very hands on dad .

I can't ask parents to stay as most are dropping and heading to work .

I'd ask a couple of parents to stay, at that age I'd like a ratio of 1 adult to 4 kids.

A bit off topic but an Italian restaurant seems a bit of an odd venue for a 6th birthday party! Would they not prefer soft play or a burger?

For 1.5 hours some people might not think it's worth going home, I'm sure someone would be happy to stay and help.

Good luck. Even a one on one adult/child ratio you'll be struggling to keep them all still. Grin

What else will they do? Eating will only take half an hour?

Its a proper party package where they make their own pizzas and desserts .

I'm happy with the venue and most kids enjoy it .

I'm just wondering about the numbers .

Ah ok, that sounds better! Sorry was just being nosey!

Back to the OP, I'd assume you would need more adults, but what do the restaurant say? If it's a proper organised kids party in their behalf do they not provide assistance, or at least guidelines on adults per kids ratio?

I wouldn't worry about it then. If one teacher can have 30 kids every day, I reckon 2 parents and a few waiters can manage for an hour and a half with half that many.

There are adults at the restaurant, right? It'll be fine.

I'd be asking a few parents to stay, text them today and say that you've had people cancel on you, and would anyone be able to stay for some of it.

I've witnessed one of these parties in action, no way I'd be attempting it with only one other adult!!

Order wine and offer glasses to parents as they drop off their DCs. Hopefully someone will want to stay and finish the wine help out.

Is it pizza express? We've had a party there and you get a dedicated party waiter/waitress. Plus 2 adults, and possibly one or two parents who'll stay....it'll be fine!!

You will be fine (in need of some wine after party is over...)
Now, im not so sure about others in the restaurant ;)
