Halloween gory stuff and kids

Halloween is just around the corner and there are decorations up around town, it all looks festive and fun, but I think the pub around the corner from my house has gone a bit too far and put something outside their pub which has really irritated me and I'm interested to know if other parents would feel the same or am I being over sensitive? Basically they have strung up some blood splattered body parts on the front of the pub; specifically a corpse which has been severed at the waist and below the knees, which is wearing blood splattered clothes and is hanging by ropes - the pub is directly opposite and in full view of a children's playground.

Am I over reacting to think that I don't want my daughter to see this horrible thing, or any children for that matter? It's on a main road so kids will be going past in cars all day and seeing it.

Just to clarify I have nothing against Halloween. My daughter has two Halloween parties this weekend and will be dressing up. My neighbours across the road have decorated their house for Halloween and it looks great, it's ghosts, pumpkins, witches etc. It's the gory stuff, blood and guts and specifically dismembered body parts (horrible!!!) in public that I object to.

Is it just me? Would the rest of you mind your kids seeing something like that?

If it has been severed at the waist how can you tell that it was alos severed below the knee? Surely that bit is missing.

(Completely misses point...)

YANBU. Some kids are very sensitive to gory images. I think it would be fine inside the pub, but outside is a bit much.

5Foot5 - the top half of the corpse is on the right side of the front of the building, the rest of it (waist to knees) is on the left side.

It's gross.

no I think its horrid and you wouldnt expose them to that in a film or book, I would complain.

I also love Halloween and currently have a house chocka full of owls, bats, cats, and crows etc but I really really dislike the gore like that.
