Going away on holiday on sat, due to a miscalculation I will be due to come on smack bang in the middle of my holiday.
If I started taking a contraceptive pill now could I delay the period? I'm due on in about 10 days.
How long would I be needing to take it to delay the period?

go to Docs and get norethisterone, it should work in time but is not contraception, think it takes 3 days to work but not sure on that. happy holidays

Are you on the pill anyway? If you're on your break yes you can restart it before 7 days, yuu only need a 5-7 day break once every 3 months.

i'm on the pill a long time but i'm actually not sure if starting the pill within 11 days of your period will stop it.
the very first time you start the pill, you're supposed to take it on the first day of your period.
i'd say you'll probably have some spotting.
its worth a try, but i'd bring sanpro with me if i were you, just in case you're caught short.

No not on the pill at all at the minute, just stopped feeding ds but have had regular periods for a hood 6 months. Can I just ask for that lessthan? Or would I need a good reason? X

You could take the pill, it may do it but not guaranteed. Norethisterone is mainly used for delaying periods for things like this, its a higher hormone dose than the pill, and shouldn't be used if you have other risk factors for a clot (+ consider travel/economy syndrome) but will definitely do the trick, you need to take it from a few days before iirc so get onto your surgery asap, they may be happy to prescribe after having a chat over the phone (you may need to see a HCA for a blood pressure check)

Norethisterone isn't guaranteed to work. Like the pill, it isn't one size fits all. You can get spotting or even complete failure.

My holiday was booked just as mine was about to start, yet all the stress of having a period due actually delayed it, as stress sometimes does. It finally arrived the morning we left to return home!
