AIBU?

To be annoyed and wonder where they got this number from?

My asda grocery delivery arrived early than I was expecting this morning, and I was a bit flustered, so when the delivery guy cheerfully announced there were no substitutions I didn't look too carefully at the delivery note. This was a mistake, as they have apparently decided to charge me 3 times the actual cost of items delivered!

I make the total before promos 25.73... they make it 76.78!?!

I've hidden the personal details and my shopping (so you horrible lot can't tell me I'm unreasonable for buying yoghurt or something ;) ...) but the number are clear.

Can anyone work out where they 70+ number comes from? Is this how asda manage to claim to be so 'cheap', by constantly overcharging and hope people don't notice?

(Oh, and the e-voucher I used is a £20 'refund' from last time they screwed up!)

Really fed up. I can't get out to the shops in person (mobility issues), and every 2-3 orders from the supermarket there seems to be a problem. (Previously I've had all my chilled goods mysteriously be 'not in the van', or they've charged me for things I ordered but they didn't deliver, or they've failed to honour their own promotions etc.)

To be annoyed and wonder where they got this number from?

Is using a different supermarket an option?

We've found Sainsbury as cheap as Asda now that they price match etc. and you can buy an annual delivery pass half price at the moment...

Sorry I can't help with your question though - sounds like you're going to have to speak to Asda customer services.

Dunno but I hope you rang them before starting a thread!

That's page 1 of 3. What was on the other 2 pages? More shopping?

I used to use Tesco's, and whereas they did occasionally get things wrong, it was never big stuff like overcharging £50! I might have to go back.

Dunno but I hope you rang them before starting a thread!

I'm irritated that I have to keep calling them. It shouldn't be this hard to add up some shopping. But, yes, I will be calling them when i have time to sit around for 20 mins to get through...

If there were more shopping I think I would have mentioned it? Hmm That is everything that was ordered and delivered. The last page of asda delivery notes is always a full page of adverts, and the second page in this case is the words 'thank you for shopping at asda' and their logo that's fallen off the first page.

See if Sainsbury operate to your address, no problems as of yet and don't miss Tesco at all Grin

No need for the Hmm If you had pages missing then it would look like more shopping may have been on the other pages. Be they stuff you had ordered or some kind of dodgy thing going on. But you have all the pages so that obviously isn't the case!

Its just like a regular receipt, the total is at the end, so there couldn't possibly be any extra pages of 'missed shopping'.

Why not phone Asda and direct your Hmm attitude to them rather than posters here?

What's with the Hmm? I was going to ask the same, it's a valid question as you hadn't mentioned it in your op. Anyway, you are going to have to ring really however much it annoys you. Then swap supermarkets! Asda are notoriously bad for home delivery.

I didn't realise using the Hmm smiley was a major offence. Tone is hard to read in text, so I will be more careful.

I thought it was strange to ask me if there were more pages of shopping that I hadn't bothered mentioning, but I don't have an 'attitude' with anyone who has posted here :)

I have already said I fully intend to express my annoyance to Asda at basically making up a number to charge me that doesn't relate to what I bought. That doesn't make it less annoying though, does it?

I read it as you paid £25 for the items you bought however if they hadn't been on offer they would have come to £70ish.

I guess have a look on the website for the rollback prices?

I cant read this on my phone but have they put in too many of an item so 100bottles of shampoo rather than 1 and charged for it even though the picker has guessed its a mistake and not packed it?

Does the Asda website do an order history? It looks to me like they've put a bit of somebody else's shopping through the till when yours was being checked out? The pickers do more than one order at a time so could have been a keying error, so you got the right crates but the wrong total.
Possibly.
Hope you don't have to spend too long on the phone.

Isn't it your total before discounts? Voucher, codes, promotion etc.
Ocado usually do that.

My total shopping before discounts should be 25.73 (numbers added up). i.e. I had £25.73 worth of products delivered (before discounts).

The number they give as the total before discounts is 76.78 (a number that comes from nowhere), so the amount actually charged to my card is 54.68, after delivery charge, discount and voucher (the amounts for delivery and discount are correct).

It is confusing, which is why I wonder if they get away with a lot of 'errors in their favor'. (Most people would notice being overcharged £50, on a £25 spend though?)

I phoned up, and they realised it was wrong as soon as they looked at it and assured me they would fix it (no apology for overcharging at all though!).

Today I have been refunded 25.73.... i.e. they have refunded the amount they were supposed to charge me before discounts, not the amount I have overpaid by. They are completely incompetent. This is basic maths. Back to phone them AGAIN.

Switch to ocado- I've never had an accounting error in over six years of using them.

OP, I've had a look at your bill and I can't see where that 76 quid figure is coming from.

Really weird.

Well yes, your shopping should have cost you about a pound!
