AIBU?

To think Burger King is massively overpriced?

We went to one in a neighbouring town as a quick treat for my teen dd and her two friends on the way home. The cost for their 3 meals was £19!!!!! (Yes I know what you're thinking - don't go to Burgerking and in future I doubt I will).
I had offered to treat them and was gobsmacked, they were not even big meals! We were also not told (nor was it signposted at the drive through) that the drinks they girls wanted would add an additional pound on to their already over priced meals. They didn't tell me this until I questioned why the bill was so high when I went to pay.

This is the amount of chips dd got with her regular sized adult meal. (See attached pic)

I have emailed customer services to complain about poor signage etc but doubt much will come of it Hmm

To think Burger King is massively overpriced?

YANBU, BK is really expensive! I love their bacon double cheeseburgers but you need to remortgage to have a meal there so I avoid now Sad

YANBU

It is really expensive for what it is. I prefer their burgers to McDonalds but the price is ridiculous.

My God! That's Shock Get on their Twitter and FB with that pic! They need to be shamed! It's cheap, fast food...not a designer burger!!

Yanbu But they are far superior to any other burger takeaway

I very rarely have one as a treat when I'm feeling flush

You forgot to add that the quality is usually pretty poor as well. I avoid them like the plague. Only KFC is worse imo.

Yep, always been more than mc donalds. Havent been in one for years. However, went to a five guys burger bar once with dh and teen son. £35 later i walked out thinking what? Ok, they are posh ones but mega expensive!

Yanbu that is shocking, the reason why I don't go to BK. You would have done better treating them to a meal is Lloyds or Weatherspoon or a pub lunch for that price :-0

It was poor. The chips were over salted and the lettuce was tinged brown. Shock

Cold chips, kfc are terrible for this. Fast food isnt what it used to be

But their burgers and fries are so much tastier that McDonalds. And they don't add every kind of shite to their food. I want a cheeseburger, with a bit of bacon on it. I don't want onion, mustard, ketchup, girkin, fluff from the managers arse, unspecified green stuff, pretend tomato ... ... ...

I'm happy to pay more just so I can order the actual meal without being made to feel like I'm the most annoying person on the planet because I want to taste the actual food I ordered not random sauces in some vile combination.

But yes, that is a pathetic portion of chips.

Sorry, that was quite a burger induced rant. Think I need to go lie down in a quiet room!!!

They are overpriced but their app always has special offers. I go every 2 months or so but keep it on my Ipad anyway because the deals on it are much better value.

Yet another reason to stay a Burger King virgin! Grin

Hmm. I paid £15 for 4 regular meals today, but the DC were told to choose from the King meal deals, rather than chose from the menu as I have been caught out before paying £6-£7 for a meal each. £3.79 each was ok, the food was freshly cooked and quite tasty, although portions were quite small.

Menus are confusing, aren't they? I never know what drinks are included with a meal.

Yes it is expensive. And you have to pay for a large to even feel satisfied as the regular one just doesn't hit the spot Grin

Why is food a treat? It's one of the basic necessities for life. No wonder there are so many emotional eaters out there. Why not say "for a treat have a couple of deep breaths"? Ridiculous

youareallbonkers that has to be one of the most bizarre posts I have ever read on MN. Do you really not understand why people may find some foods a treat?

YANBU.

All of the bk places in my town are always empty, and I suspect it's due to being so bloody expensive! To my mind they're not even that great either, though an XL bacon double cheeseburger is awesome I must say!!

KFC is just awful AND expensive. Our local one always makes me feel ill so I never bother any more, which sucks for the rest of the family as I refuse to eat it now.

YANBU, we went last Sat and it was very overpriced. I had a chicken burger meal, DH had a whopper meal, my niece had a kids burger meal and DS had some apple chip things (he's only 1). It came to nearly £20 quid!! Fucking hell I was shocked. Especially since Mcdee's is nicer (imo) and costs a lot less.

The80sweregreat Five Guys is expensive but it's AMAZING, their burgers blow every other chain's out of the water (in the UK at least). I've been to Five Guys in NYC though and £20 of food here is $20 in the US, which bothers me.
