I agree. It is discrimination of the worst kind.
Won't anybody think of the vegetables?

YANBU, especially when you consider that some bicycles are named after kitchen implements. I'd love to get myself a Grater...
Broccoli TV would be brilliant.

No you are not being unreasonable. I think it is a growing problem. We were talking about it at a dinner last night, and when we compared our phones, whether Samsung, I-phone, Blackberry etc all of them have various facilities to display Dates, but nowhere could we find anything vegetable related. It may be a conspiracy, but until either the UN or the EU Commissioners step in and equalise this nonsense I am afraid we are going to have a lot more fruit orientated IT equipment and services over the next few years. I hear a rumour that a new company start-up was about to float under the brand name Courgette Wi-Fi, but I believe the competition squashed them.

I am actually in the process of developing a new app, that integrates the operating systems of Apple and Blackberry. I thought of calling the app Custard, but I cannot remember why. I told our guests at dinner last night, and they just crumbled. Confused, so I just went to bed.

YES - you are being unreasonable.

For too long vegetables ruled the world - from c.1400 BC to around 1652 AD when Sir Walter Raleigh brought to Britain the first tin of pineapple rings from Florida.

It took until 1714 for Sir Admiral Waitrose to introduce bananas to our homes, and most people hung them up as ornaments because they didn't know what they were for. I think vegetables have had their way for far too long, so I am glad to see some fruit based technology brands for a change.

I know I am in a minority here, and may get a bashing from others.

Parsnip - you are entitled to your views but get your facts right

  1. Sir Admiral Waitrose became First Sea Lord in 1712.

  1. Tin cans were not available in Raleigh's time. It was not until much later when Guy Fawkes came up with the idea. Raleigh had to take out several industrial food processors to Florida and brought back the juice in wooden barrels which was reconstituted and sweeteners were then added

Now just calm down everyone. Not all fruit are like that you know.

My dh has just informed me of the existence of 'Celery, a distributed task queue for Django and pure Python' and an amqp messaging framework called carrot (of course I know what all that means).

Admittedly I was then alarmed to see, upon googling 'amqp python carrot' that the second google hit was for rabbitmq, and if you click on that you get a whole load of rabbits. We must fight this new fruit tactic on behalf of the innocent veg.

This branding thing is all a bit weird to me.

Like when them scientist in the 17th century discovered the red planet and our star systems, why did they name them after chocolate bars?? wtf was that for, like Mars, Galaxy and Milky Way.
