A few people asked me to update on how DS does in his new special school when I posted a few months ago complaining about one of the parents in the EBD school he was in (their child flying kicked mine and he didn't even tell the child no)

I don't know if any of you remember it but some said my severely disabled and autistic child shouldn't be in an EBD school and I said I knew and he was moving to a more conventional special school in September but I was really worried about the transition because of trust issues from what happened in his horrible mainstream.

Anyway, tomorrow is the day he starts, And I feel sick with nerves.

Potty training was a none starter because the medicine didn't work and his paediatrician seems to never bother phoning back, his old TA (now his PA) tells me she lectured the new school about his seizures and told them that only changing him "a couple of times a day" was nowhere near enough and he needs changing every hour.

But I'm still so nervous.

Hoping it all goes much more smoothly for you both tomorrow.

Thanks. I know it doesn't seem like a big deal, but he was emotionally a used by the staff in mainstream, then I sent him to the EBD purely because I took the first school I saw, the EBD school was amazing and nurtured him back to good mental health, then, when we decided he was mentally well enough to move on, I had to fight the LEA to keep him out of a different special school that's been in the news for the abuse to the children there (plus I personally know some of the parents who witnessed the abuse) so that was horribly traumatic, then I eventually got him into a special school in the LEA that comes with good parental recommendations.

It has to work for him, there's nothing else.

I will check back tomorrow Smile I started it now because I'll be stressed beyond belief tomorrow and would forget otherwise. But this place has been a fab support to me over the summer

Good luck for tomorrow, I hope you have something nice planned for yourself to keep you occupied.
My daughter has complex health needs and on her first day i was in a right state and convinced myself she wouldn't manage without me. I paced around the house and clock watched until she came home again. It was hell for me but I'm pleased to say she'd had a great time and hadn't missed me at all.
Hope your little one gets on ok. Flowers

He settled in really well and had a really good first day apparently. Already done his homework now (they didn't do homework is his old school so that was a shock to the system) and he wants to go again tomorrow (not that he had a choice)

So happy to hear this - I was looking to see how he had managed.

Thank you, he seems happy enough Smile he'd be in a right bad mood if he didn't like it so that's good. I had to explain about his seizures in the morning showing that no one had actually read his care plan Confused

It clearly states on it 'non epileptic seizures' and I told them how they had to make sure he never got even a little bit too hot, but he came out in 21 degrees with his jumper and coat on Hmm

I didn't say anything just swiftly removed them while talking to the TA in such a way that she'd notice and possibly think again tomorrow.

But there'll always be a few teething problems like that and as long as he's happy, and they're nice with him, which seems to be so, I'm happy Smile

And doing homework was quite fun Smile I could get used to that!

In mainstream he had homework that was stuff he couldn't access at all, basically just what the rest of reception was doing, even though he has severe learning disabilities. So I just wrote on them in big red pen 'DS cannot access this work' the homework book was 'lost' the day before ofsted arrived strangely.

And his old school didn't send out homework.

But doing homework that he can access and putting it in his little book bag to send it back to school with him gave me a lovely warm feeling.

Bet that warm feeling goes if I forget to do it with him one week though Grin

That's a fantastic update.

Well done to Hurricane Jr, especially with the homework afterwards. :)
