To think that somebody hosting a children's party should at least clean up the heaps of dog shit from their lawn before inviting the children outside

Bloody disgusting.

Candustpleasefuckoff Sun 17-Aug-14 19:44:38

YANBU

Aeroflotgirl Sun 17-Aug-14 19:45:02

Yanbu at all, ewwwww. If your inviting children over, you check your garden, clean up the dog mess, and sanitise the area before letting children, walk, run, roll or crawl through it.

Floggingmolly Sun 17-Aug-14 19:46:30

Bloody hell! Some people really haven't a clue shock

Floralnomad Sun 17-Aug-14 19:48:36

YANBU , I hope the children trod it all through the house on their way out - perhaps then they will be more careful next time.

EugenesAxe Sun 17-Aug-14 19:51:51

YANBU. On a side note, my DD did a shit on the lawn the other day when the cold of the paddling pool gave her momentarily dodgy bowels. First time and hopefully last that I've sprayed Dettol on grass.

ItsAllGoingToBeFine Sun 17-Aug-14 19:53:58

Of course YANBU! <boak>

Eurgh - I walked past a house that had literally dozens of piles of pooh in the garden. (There were railed fences between the adjoining houses and the road)
It made me heave.
My NDN on both sides have dogs so I know when one of them have been, but it's scooped up.
Imagine being the NDN of that house.

ADHDNoodles Sun 17-Aug-14 20:20:15

My parents do a daily sweep of picking up dog poo and filling the holes with it. If your dog digs and you put their poo in it before covering it back up with dirt, they won't dig there anymore.

Then the dog finds elsewhere to dig.

It's a never ending cycle.

Madsy1990 Sun 17-Aug-14 21:04:50

It was just horrendous. We left early

Thisvehicleisreversing Sun 17-Aug-14 21:09:22

My SIL used to invite my DCs to hers to play with their cousins on the trampoline.

They never cleaned up after their dog.

There'd be huge piles of shit to dodge in the garden and copious amounts of dog hairs and drool marks on the furniture inside <boak>

Put me off going round.

Isthatwhatdemonsdo Sun 17-Aug-14 21:18:52

Christ! I hover behind my dogs with the poop scoop when they crap in the garden.

PlushSuppie Sun 17-Aug-14 21:21:26

Didn't anyone say anything?

ihaveadirtydog Sun 17-Aug-14 21:23:54

That's horrible! Any chance it was just one rogue dump that the parents had missed and were mortified by? Or are we talking full on piles not cleaned up or bothered by?

Madsy1990 Sun 17-Aug-14 21:37:14

Full on piles of shit, there was even a asda bag full to the brim with shit in the corner which the host removed..don't know where it was put but I very nearly threw up. I didn't allow my son to play outside (not that inside was much better...talk about 'James turner street') and we did leave early. It is OH's side of the family and the rest of the people that were there were just letting the kids play in it. I won't be attending any more family functions, especially not at this particular house. The host did go around scooping up giant bags full of shit whilst the children were playing, however I still would not have felt comfortable with letting my son play outside. We all came home and immediately showered and disinfected.

Question, as I don't have dogs - how do you sanitise the area after you clear up the poo? Because sometimes they must have to go in your garden.

Madsy1990 Sun 17-Aug-14 21:55:15

I don't have dogs so god knows, but all I know is that she has 3 large dogs, and I thought the area would at least have been cleared before small children were let out to play on the lawn. It was everywhere. Just gross.

MsAdorabelleDearheartVonLipwig Sun 17-Aug-14 22:00:09

If we have a late walk one day my boy will occasionally do a dirty protest in the garden but it's not a regular occurrence. If I know we've got anyone coming over I scour the grass just in case. Eeeewww to your family's garden. hmm

Madsy1990 Sun 17-Aug-14 22:12:52

Eww indeed!! Luckily it's a member I OH's family that we never see, was only there because my lb's cousin was there too. We don't really see any of the other family members that were there today either..Will never go again.

Floralnomad Sun 17-Aug-14 22:17:13

nanny my dog is only allowed on the patio area ( which is a fair size) and as soon as he poos it is picked up and binned and the area is washed down with a dettol solution that we keep in a watering can ,wees are washed down the same way .

ihaveadirtydog Sun 17-Aug-14 22:28:07

They should be ashamed!
Although Nanny tbh if our dog does poo in the garden I don't tend to do any further 'sanitation' apart from pick it up and rinse it if there's any 'residue' (sorry - tmi).

TheReluctantCountess Sun 17-Aug-14 22:40:49

You came home and disinfected?

Madsy1990 Sun 17-Aug-14 22:43:26

It upsets me that the woman in question has 3 little kids who have to live in the conditions I witnessed today, not just in the garden. Shocking, I never thought I'd see anything like it in real life, only on c4 documentaries. The immense amounts of dog shit was just the cherry on top tbh.

Madsy1990 Sun 17-Aug-14 22:46:33

When I say disinfected I mean we just showered and scrubbed, especially lo. He'd been touching god knows what, like I say, the whole place was bogging.

roundpegsquarehole Sun 17-Aug-14 22:47:54

yanbu.
i have dogs. i would not dream of leaving the garden covered in their poo! especially if i had young children!
