AIBU?

To throw away the shoe racks and coat hooks and just kick off my shoes on the kitchen floor and throw my coat on the back of the nearest chair?

Because that what everyone else does.

There are 9 pairs of shoes on the kitchen floor.

3 are D2s

1 D1s

4 Hs

There are 14 assorted jumpers, hoodies and coats in a heap in the middle of the floor. They were on chairs and end of bannister but I have gathered them and built a pyre. I shall be burning them all later.

In D2s bedroom are 4 plates a 8 damp towels. I can't even look in D1s room.

I hate them all.

Time for a family meeting. Rules, chores, consequences. Who does the bulk of the cleaning op.

I'm not nagging as they are both in the middle of exams. H normally does cleaning and housework but is shit at tidying up.

I'm seething quietly inside.

Come July there will be new rules.

My DH makes a nice pile of shoes next to the shoe bin...My DF would have thrown them outside when I was a child and I am finding it increasingly tempting.

There are shoes scattered all over my house.

No one can ever find the pair they want though.

Get a laundry hamper and fill it with the shoes and garments and then bung it outside. Perferably when it's raining

Stay out of the bedrooms and keep the doors firmly closed.

I have bin bagged everything in the past and hidden it in the shed. They still do it.

I'm thinking if hiring a skip. I'll give them 3 weeks notice. On skip day anything that isn't in an appropriate place is going.

My mum used to bin anything not put away, especially shoes. I always thought this wAs normal... Til I saw the look on my friends face when I couldn't find my school shoea had to rummage in the outside dustbin.

I never leave shoes in the doorway

Get a puppy. My DD's are way better at not leaving shoes lying around after the puppy ate some of their favourite ones :)

I'd put all the offending items in their beds.

I thought for a minute you had 4 kids and 4 husbands!

I feel your pain.

We have a large shoe rack in the utility room and rows of hooks on the walls in there for bags etc.

The dcs just lob their shoes, school bags, pe kit bags, tennis rackets and guitars onto the middle of the floor. We can't get to the washing machine or tumble dryer because of this mountain of stuff on the floor.

I loathe being a nag, but they drive me to it.

I also have one about to start exams, so his bedroom is being ignored. It looks like a crime scene.

if you have room in the futility room put everything into black bags in the corner of the room. When the dreaded "Muuuuum have you seen? " is shouted just say " who knows where that is , could be in the black bag in the futility room", and walk away,

Never mind not nagging until July surely they would be able to study/revise better if their rooms/study area where tidied and then maybe things would be less stressful for all concerned.

NO screen time in my house until your shoes are on the shoe rack your coat is on the peg and your lunch box has been returned to the kitchen and emptied.... (No nookie for dh if aforementioned is not done by him! ) has taken a while for everyone to get the hang of it but we are nearly there....
