To ask how many times a day your toddlers go for a wee?

We are attempting potty training and my dh and I have different opinions on this, whilst I agree that at 3 she is old enough to try I'm not convinced she's ready and we should try again in a few weeks.
We are on day two and so far today we've had 14 wet pants and about 10 successful attempts on the loo/potty. Is this normal or is she not physically ready?
My dh believes that by continuing with training she'll learn to hold it in and go less frequently but in larger amounts. But I'm not convinced, she seems to wet herself and then on prompting will sit on the potty and go some more a couple of times before she's done, only twice have we actually got to the potty before a leak has occurred, and yes we are asking every 10mins if she wants to go.

Is she drinking enough? I ask because children with a full bladder will usually empty it in one sitting and those without a full bladder will often go in spits and spats. Quite often when there is a child who frequently wees the advice is to give them more to drink so they fill their bladder more and thus will give it a full empty each time if that makes sense?!

My 2.10 boy goes generally between 5-7 times a day and does a decent wee each time. When we first started potty training he'd go loads but he started holding it a lot better after a couple of weeks.

She does drink throughout the day and a glass with each meal, though maybe I need to give her more whilst we are trying this.
Beginning to think it might be worth getting her check with doc for infection or something.

My Ds 3.3 goes 4 or 5 times a day. That does seem like a lot of wee's I think asking every 10 mins isn't helping as it is teaching her to have a small wee everytime instead of holding it till her bladder is full.

Before you started training did you notice if nappy was dry for long periods?

no she's never really had dry periods in nappies. in two days of training I think she's managed 40 mins of not going twice.

DS is now 4 & goes AGES between wees. It used to stress me early on (your every 10 minute comment) but I just learned that he's a camel.

Like other I think you need to let her go longer & she'll get it. She should be old enough.

Keep at it for another day or two, I was amazed how quickly the time between wees lengthened.

Good luck

Keep trying for a couple of days then decide. Both my ds took 2 weeks and the first week was hard work! With ds2 we tried for a week and then decided to wait a while longer and put him back in nappies for a month or so. With both of them it seemed like it would never work then suddenly clicked and got better quite quickly.

I am 2 weeks in with DS2. The first 2 to 4 days he did a LOT of wees. I knew he was capable of holding it in for quite long periods as often his nappy would be dry after several hours, so I was a bit puzzled as to why he did so many.

2 weeks in he has pretty much got it (not the poos so much), and doesn't do loads of wees (in fact surprisingly few, think he isn't drinking enough actually!).

He is 2.10.

Mine are both camels who in effect trained themselves at 2, so hard to compare but give it a few more days concentrated efforts. We used a alarm on the phone and put DC on potty every 30-45 mins at first. You could combine this with a sticker chart? If she has never had dry periods during the day, she may just need a little longer to get to grips with it ?

You said in your OP that you are asking her every ten minutes.
Stop asking her so often.
Our DD got the hang of it when we backed off slightly. Offer the potty every time you start a new activity..eg; before a meal, before a game, before you go out, before she watches TV etc. We found with our DD that she had more accidents if she was so embroiled in an activity she didn't know she was weeing, so get her before she starts anything new!
Don't give up...you've started now and the first few days are the hardest!!
