DD woke at 4 for a feed (she's 2 ), then DS was up at 4.30 with a 'bad dream'. I'm sick of 5am wake ups and they were both still sleepy so put them both back to bed and sat in the chair waiting for them to settle down. Then became aware of some idiot shouting and swearing outside. It kept getting louder and quieter again so I waited for a while thinking he was going away.

Eventually I'd had enough so looked out to see a bloke on his mobile having some sort of big disagreement. In the street, outside a row of houses, at 5am. On a mobile phone.

I'm afraid I opened the window and tore a strip off him . But what sort of inconsiderate idiot does that? At least he had the grace to apologise and move on, but i now have two wide awake DC FGS!

YANBU it's very inconsiderate to have loud conversations at this hour.

I live next to a field used by the early morning dog walkers. I'm amazed by the amount of time men with loud voices and barking dogs stop and chat for 10 mins outside my house. There's a whole field to be noisy in, please not outside my house!

I would be very annoyed too. Early mornings like that are brutal and no doubt the DC will have a sneaky nap later on.

Not wanting to highjack, but why is it acceptable to make comments like 'boot him in the bollocks' Softly? I'm sure lots of people would find it unacceptable if you said 'boot her in the cnt' about a woman, but somehow it's fine to say the equivalent about a man. It's not just you either Softly* (so please don't think it's a personal comment), I've seen a fair amount of similar comments here and think it's somehow seen as being an acceptable thing to say.

I hope you didn't wake anyone else up with your shouting at the shouty man . I would have silently seethed.

For ages a noisy motorbike, without a muffler on the exhaust, was waking us all up by going past and revving after midnight, this went on for weeks. Everyone I knew of on the road complained about it to each other. When it stopped we didn't know if he motorcyclist had changed shift pattern or whether the Council's Noise Abatement officer/ local Police had finally acted. It was such a relief though.

People sometimes sit down for a chat on my front step in the early hours - we're on a corner and front the pavement. They're not the winos you'd expect but usually posh teenagers who don't want to go home.

They are always amazed when my snarling face emerges from an upstairs window.

A few years ago, I got up nice & early to watch the Grand Prix and while the buildup was on with all the pit lane noise, there began an even louder noise of someone revving their engine over and over again. After 15 minutes (!!) I was sufficiently pissed off enough to go out in my pyjamas and find the nobber doing this. The idiot was waiting outside his mates house who'd gone inside to get something so I politely (although making it obvious how cheesed off I was) asked him to quit revving the car because it was so noisy that I couldn't hear the TV in the back of the house with all the DG windows closed.

I think my ultimate fishwife incarnation was last week though. A new supermarker opened in town a few months ago, but some people are still driving down the trading estate road to try to get to it (deliveries only that way). One complete wankbadger last week sped down the road and soaked me, the shopping and 4mo DD in her pram with the wave from the puddle he drove through. I waited for him to come back down the road a minute later, wheeled the pram into the middle of the road and screamed at the driver that he was a complete cock when he had to stop (after he'd first tried to drive around me). I was having a bad day already by that point, so I thought he deserved to share it. Just wished I'd taken a photo of his car for the number plate so I could have reported him for driving without due care & attention.

enfy I got soaked 3 days in a row, by trucks going past an enormous puddle and soaking me and my DS in the pushchair from top to toe. I'd never had water dropping off my eyelashes/ eyebrows before. I had to laugh because I'd have cried otherwise...there was no way of avoiding that narrow bit of pavement.

Laughing at the term wankbadger, though I'd have hoped to have taken a photo of him, for exactly the same reasons too...
