Just caught 5yo DS in the bathroom weeing directly onyo the floor. Splatters up the walls. I =s there anything that could be causing this other than bone idleness becaue I am purple with rage at the moment?

genuine AIBU btew, if there is any medical condition that can cause complete and utter urgency in an otherwise healthy NT 5yo then please tell me, as he'll be going to the docs on Monday
Otherwise he is going to bed straight after dinner

Was he caught very short before he got near enough to the loo?, - didn't realise how desperate he was until he got undressed and then the wee suddenly appeared?

Or was he at the loo and just being wildy inaccurate in the style of many five year old boys?

I'd have said bone idleness if he'd been doing it in his bedroom, or the garden or something, but it sounds as if he was heading in the right direction for a wee.

He's bored and wanted to see the splash effect it was creating?

Count yourself lucky it was only wee!

They joys of motherhood!

Have a Wine after you've cleaned and told him off.

DD (also just 5) went through a phase of this... Just got up in the middle of the night and pissed on the carpet. She wasn't asleep or anything. I think it was just an attention thing. Luckily (for her !) it was a very short phase. Sorry - not much help

It might be a UTI if he seems otherwise unwell - fever/grumpy/pain etc.

Probably more likely to be 'an experiment' if he is anything like my 4.8yo DS

DS did this at that age.

it's an "oh look what I can do how interesting" thing.

I think.

He grew out of it.

I think.

Or maybe not goes up to examine bathroom

Well a urine infection or cystitis would cause urgency, - I'd also expect a UTi to cause pain and maybe a temp as well - so might be as well to look out for them. If you do think he's possibly got a UTI (if he's normally good about using the toilet ) then I'd call OOH Doc. or go to a walk in centre tomorrow, not wait until MOnday.

Mine likes to wee 'no-handed' which he has been told off about, he leaves it to the last minute and then pulls pants down, aims vaguely in direction of bowl and just goes for it. Hmm

thanks everyone
sounds like just naughtiness then - no signs of an infection, althougb I think DD has had a UTI recently
I am so bloody cross with him, trousers down, looked like he was going for a perfectly normal wee, only aimed at the carpet AngryAngryAngryAngryAngry

Yes, Ninthwave - I have one like that too.

Or "it was stuck to my leg so went in the wrong direction".

Or, they both go at the same time and try to "cross the streams".

Well, I hope YOU didn't clean it up. Make DS do it.

that would have been sensible, unfortunately I didnt think of that. Sent him upstairs and just wanted to get rid of it before tea was ready - with about a minute to go

Well what reason did he give??

ditch the carpet stealth, before it gets worse [ stern look]

he said he just didn't get there in time. I'm not sure what to believe tbh. Surely if he hadn't got there in time he;d have just weed down his leg, not pants down and directly weeing in the wrong place
Unless he was doing pants down on the way and just didn't make it all the way?

But surely you would keep moving towards the toilet in that case??!!
