AIBU?

AIBU to think tights manufacturers are trying to torture us?

Not that long ago you could buy tights with similar toe seams to socks - i.e. sitting over the toe. Now you can only buy them with the seam right at the end of the toe where it squashes up against your shoe or, more often than not, migrates to under your foot and hurts every time you walk.

Please someone tell me where I can buy nice tights! And Marks and Spencer - get your act together!

See this is why I haven't worn tights in years. Show me the person who invented them and I will show you a misogynistic bastard on so many levels.

Even in this weather (or colder) I prefer bare legs (covered up by flouncey skirts I hasten to add: I'm not that much of a sado/masochist!!)

Oh definitely... and they make them too short in the leg and too big at the waist so that you're constantly hoiking them up... Angry

They are indeed, instruments of tortue, and I think that if men had to wear them (or they were part of usual mens' attire), there would be proper sizing, lots of lycra and they'd cost half nothing for a dozen!

I'm beginning to be convinced I should just give them up forever. Surely someone out there knows of a decent manufacturer - or should I take this as my Dragon's Den moment and start my own business??? Hmm

Leggings, socks and long boots in winter, bare legs in summer. I never wear tights - far too uncomfortable.

Wolford. Cost a lot, last even longer. Comfy, never ladder, survive washing machines and drunken dancing with no sagging, no twisting, no hoiking...

Don't wear the horrid things either, as for the word "gusset" yuck

You need good tights - I have Falke/Wolford/Brora cashmere/M&S Autograph ones - they've all done 2 years so far. There are some Falke ones in the winter sale on //www.meandem.co.uk right now.

Otherwise I wear leggings and long boots - everyone thinks they're just thick tights - you need tight leggings though, I always size down.

Gusset is also my least favourite word.

OK - I have a strategy now. Leggings / socks when wearing boots, v. expensive tights when not.

Thanks Laurie, Catgirl, Coral Toes, Cardibach and all.

If anyone here works for Marks/Debenhams/etc - hang your head in shame!

I wear thick blacks tights to work every day, they squeeze me in at the waist really tight, and I have to wear extra knickers over them to keep them from sliding down my legs and doing a nora batty!

I treid hold ups for work once. By the time I got to the train station they were flopping around my knees and everyone saw them....

Used to wear tights for work every day when I worked in London. Have now moved out and cycle to work every day, so now wear trousers most days. Haven't worn tights regularly in years and wear socks instead. No more smelly shoes!

When I do wear tights, it's Wolford (because I've had them for years and they're still going strong)!
