I'm nerly 35 weeks PG and could easily floor several family members and IL very hormonal and easily irritated. I've almost had enough already and just want to sit in a quiet room with a bottle of gin, a bottle of tonic and a packet of fags. Fucking humbug!

But in just a month you will be sitting there with a beautiful baby snuggled into your neck. You'll be able to smell him/her, feel their breath on your skin and know they trust you to be there for them and to do everything possible to give them the best life you can.

You are a lucky woman.

(PS don't intend to sound as though you're having a multiple birth, there!)

How true (I've been there and are there now) however the booze and fags are there in a month or so too if you still want them Xmas Grin

ImperialBlether That's what I'll keep thinking, to get me through.

I'll just sit here with a bottle of tonic and pretend for now.

Make a homeopathic g&t; pour gin into glass, swirl it round and pour it out again. It gives just enough hint of gin to make you feel less deprived. It's worked for me for the last 3 years of being pg/breast feeding!

golemmings Sorry I'm feeling a bit dim at the moment, but does that really work? If so it my improve my evening with IL, GMIL can have my excess gin and she may seem much more tolerable.

NoobyNoob You have outed me. I must indeed be you as I was also wide awake at 4am. Oh well, not long now and we'll have our long awaited DC in our arms. That'll more than make up for a sober Christmas.

Yes I'm wondering that too and I neither drink nor smoke. Christmas drives me to it!

I've never been PG through Xmas before, bought shedloads of booze and cigs in prep of the "festivities". Got a positive test yesterday. Happy and excited but looking at the booze longingly, kinda wishing O'd tested late on Boxing.Day do I'd been none the wiser for a day or two.

I feel.your pain OP

Ambi Congratulations. I was the best part of 2 months when I found out. Was a heavy smoker, had a 2 boozy weekends in a row, then a holiday and had just got back from a work course on Wine drinking tasting (yes I have an amazing job). I was PG through all of that and didn't know.

Just reading this all back, I sound like the most god awful lush Blush, I'm not, I just miss it especially at this time of year.

You'll be in my thoughts tonight when I have a sneaky one in the back garden. Will that help?

Thank you soonbeforty Envy have one for all the PG ladies who can't enjoy their usual indulgences (festive or otherwise). Actually that's quite a lot of fags and booze, enjoy!

Please keep off the fags!

But it's not the end of the world if you have the odd drink - even the odd gin. Just remember that home-poured ones are at least twice pub singles strength, so pour stingily and stick at one.

Even my gp didn't condemn drinking at Christmas whilst pregnant. I was 6 weeks pregnant over Christmas 3 years ago and worried that I would our myself to family and friends over Xmas and new year. Told gp who said she'd drunk moderate amounts of alcohol through all 3 of her pregnancies with no ill effects. I drank a little that year. Parents didn't guess but friends did!

I also find drinking half a glass of wine is good because then I can have a second and feel like a proper lush grown up!
