AIBU to be absolutely DELIGHTED that my MIL is moving

...an hour and a half CLOSER to my house!!!

I am well pleased. She's ace and DH travels so much, I am on my own quite a bit at the moment. Their new house will be about 10 miles away - close enough to visit for lunch / dinner / babysit, far enough away to prevent surprise visits.

As my DS gets older he will be able to see his Granny and Grandpa loads and have a proper relationship with them. And when I have afternoons like today (sick, tired, only halfway through the week that my DH is away) I will be able to call her on the Granphone for emergency assistance!

Please everyone keep your fingers crossed that the move goes through okay!

Yanbu we moved closer to MIL last year (did live a few hundred miles away) and it was the best thing we could have done. Dont have my own mother so it's just nice to have an older women around - plus she pops round to see us a couple of times a week and does things like brings us random onions...it's so great after years of being alone!

We live 1 mile away from MIL and FIL and they are fab, Babysits anytime we ask and have both kids after school for tea till we get home from work.

We would be lost without her

I can't stand my MIL!! She only lives 10 mins away Sad and frequently pops round unexpectedly. But I'm glad you like yours and your kids have a good relationship with their Gandparents. YANBU. You are lucky. My fingers are crossed for you.

We live 45mins from PIL and they are fab, I'd happily live closer but not much work locally to them. They usually have DD one night a week plus one full day to help us with childcare and they also take her on holiday to their caravan. DD loves them, they're really respectful of our wishes and wouldn't dream of undermining me or DH. We would really struggle without their help and I'm so grateful for it.
