AIBU?

to think that my DS's former nursery should have contacted me to tell me they owed me money, rather than leaving me to chase them?

In the area I used to live in, I had to pay for my DS's nursery fees upfront and then some months later, I would get a refund from them for the 15 free hours he's entitled to over the course of the term. So for the period April-July, I got a cheque in September for over £500.

It occurred to me the other day that I was probably owed money for last term too so I rang the council and they confirmed that they had issued the nursery with a refund on my behalf.

I know the nursery don't have my new address but I redirected all my post and they didn't post it to my old address. Nor have they tried to contact me by phone. AIBU to think this is a bit off and I shouldn't have to chase them for money that is mine?

I hate this system - the council can't even tell me how much money I'm owed but I reckon it's got to be around £200 or so which I could really do with.

I suppose if it were the other way around, and you owed them money, you would wait for them to contact you..

That's true but it annoys me because it's not their money - the council have given it to them to pass on to me.

I'm probably not being very reasonable but I'm cross and a bit worried that they won't actually send it to me. They might just not call me back ever and hope I'll go away :(
