... Rather than on my chest? And to scream the house down if I dare move her even when she's fast asleep? She's 6weeks and until now has been happy in cot . one more hour then she's off to the spare room w dh!

You're not being at all unreasonable, but it's completely normal at this age. Your average six week old is just starting to be a bit more alert and aware of what's around her, and it's pretty terrifying! If you were tiny and helpless, your best chance of survival against the...you know, wildebeest and whatnot...would be to make sure you were physically attached to a Big Adult at all times, and especially when you sleep.

Hang in there, it's a very short time although it feels endless now.

I know that really. Have just been spoilt until now as apart from the first night, she's been sleeping 10-6 with one wake up at 2 or 4 in her cot. Maybe she can sense some wildebeest around tonight!!

They do come out at the full moon.

Is it a full moon?

I mean, when the moon is on the wane. I knew that.

There's a herd/flock/gaggle of them at the front door.

Has your dd got reflux at all?

My dd is 5 wks and she would not go back down in her cot during the night and preferred to sleep tummy down on my husband's chest.

Yesterday I had an appointment with a pediatrician who told me that I should stop the chest sleeping immediately and raise the matress so that dd sleeps flat on her back but inclined.

I thought the habit would be hard to break but last night she settled back down in her cot after the night feeds. Whether this will continue I don't know!
