DH sent off DD's new passport forms using the check and send service at the post office. He wasn't asked if he wanted the old passport back via recorded delivery so I'm not sure why it is coming this way. I have got the new one back already.
This is the third day I'm waiting in for her old passport. When they tried to deliver it originally I was out, so I rearranged delivery using the courier website and waited in all day. It didn't come but I did get a letter in the post saying I need to arrange redelivery. Which I did and again it didn't come and I got another letter! Third attempt now, the courier phone line is automated so I can't speak to someone.

Would it be unreasonable to go out and tell them to keep the sodding expired passport? DS is throwing empty cupcake cases at my head as I type, such is the extent of his boredom Confused

I would go out.

I never knew they returned expired passports. They've never sent any of mine or dp's back. Confused

Do you not have the option to get it delivered at your local post office, so you can pick it up at your convenience?

I am envious that you've even got your PP back. Our DDs was sent away five weeks ago. I live in hope that it will be back before next weekend. We want to go to paris on Eurostar and you need a passport or ID card.
I accidently threw her ID thingy away.

That's strange. I got my passport done last week on the fast track service. New passport came 2 days later and I had to sign for it. Old passport came the next day and was just posted through the door. I'd go out. If you're not there and it needs signing for you can rearrange delivery or go and pick it up.

The old passport is usually just posted, as it's useless to anyone who intercepts it. Just go out and leave a signed note on the door asking them to put it through the letter box.

kreercher that's a long time, can you call them? We paid a bit more to get DD's back quicker because we are going away. But I renewed mine last month using the standard service and it took about 3 weeks to come.

I always get expired PPs back with the corner clipped off. It's a shame not to get DD's back because she's 2 months in the photo and looks like Phil Mitchell, but I'm not 3 days waiting in the house bothered.

Sorry if I'm being obtuse here but why do you want your dd's old passport?

I phoned them last week, apparently it wasn't even in the system despite the money being taken out of our account. It costs about a pound a minute to speak to them, plus the cost of ringing from Belgium.

kreecher do you know how long it normally takes? We've just sent off the forms for DD1s (from Moldova) but I'd like it back before 5 weeks! Although we didn't have to send her old one (special case country) but I'm not sure about using the old one while the new one's being processed.

thanks, it should take 'up to one month'. I doubt you can use your DDs old one if it doesn't have any time left on it.
I'll try phoning again today, I really don't know what the hold up can be. It is just a renewal of a passport and she's had two before Angry

Sorry, I should have added, this is the first time we've had to send it out of the country we are living in. The first was isssued while I waited (Oman), the second took three days and was issued in Bangkok. This one has gone to France.

Kreecher have you had it back yet? I just spoke to a lady at the passport office (she called me - I need to so something at the embassy) but she said that their processing time is only a couple of days at the moment.
