AIBU?

To be enraged whenever I walk past the kitchen at work...

...and see the same guy in there every bloody time.

You have to walk past the kitchen to get to the toilets and I swear, every time I walk past he's ALWAYS there.

The thing is, he's always doing something that looks nice or helpful - some washing up, or making a tea round for about 5000 people. Why does it wind me up so much? It's especially annoying when I'm trying to make a coffee or something and he's got 10 mugs lined up on the side and is meticulously washing teaspoons so I can't get to the sink.

Would it wind you up? Am I just cranky? What office things get on your tits?

Maybe he is posting somewhere about this woman who always seems to need the loo?

People who stand infornt of the fridge carrying on a conversation while i am waiting to get to the milk.

people who walk away ( whistling nonchalantly) while the copier/printer flashes it's red panic light at them...

people who are phoning and let the phone ring and ring and ring an dring an dthen when i get up and dash to other end of office to answer it...ring off

I guess it just depends on how often you walk past the kitchen - if it's every hour, then you're pissed off because he's not doing enough work. If it's only twice a day, then you're pissed off because he's not doing your washing up or making you a coffee or something.

Apart from that - yes you are cranky. Grin

I think it's just because it's so blatant that he's shirking doing any work. Great for all his desk buddies that they're always getting tea made for them though. Maybe I'm jealous...? :o

I realise that in order for me to see him at all, that means I'm not at my desk either, but I drink a lot of water (think of your skin, darling!) and have the bladder of a child.

Annoying colleague who thinks I'm interested in the dull minutae of her life, no I don't care what your friend's mums grandson got in his gscse's

people who bugger up the printer and leave the next person to deal with it

smelly colleague who lets one off every half an hour and stinks out confined spaces

people who think it's a good idea to nuke something stinky in the microwave for their lunch

does he do it really slowly and carefully, like he's killing time then? That would annoy me too - they don't need polishing, ffs, they're not actual silver! Just wash them and go!

I am constantly annoyed by people who put their mugs in the staffroom sink when the dishwasher is right next to it. You can tell it's not them who fish the things out of minging brown water at the end of the day to load the dishwasher!

Are you pregnant, OP?

thumbwitch, yes! Like that. Really slowly and letting the tap run for ages.

Also, there's this girl who is constantly walking behind me; she'll get all the way to the end of the corridor, passing me on the way, then pick up something from her desk and walk past me again back up the corridor. WHAT IS SHE DOING? It's irritating beyond belief, not least because every time she goes past I have to minimise MN :o

I had a colleague who ALWAYS ended up talking about his guns (he did target shooting or some crap like that).
He wasn't dangerous, he was just exceptionally dull. I tried saying 'I'm not into guns' (god that's an understatement) and even 'I don't like thinking about guns, let's talk about something else'. Our boss had to have a word in the end.
I used to FUME at just being in the same room as him.

Ah, the chronic tea maker. I had to manage one of those - she was wasting around 20 mins every hour or so making rounds of brews for everyone & getting caught up in chats in the kitchen. I had to tell her to please limit tea breaks to one one morning & one in the afternoon, plus lunch, & she was verrrry stroppy about it. Intensely irritating.

What office things get on your tits?

The fact that a kitchen is in an office. Wtf?

Do you know what gets on my tits? the fact that I've to pee every 30 minutes and everytime I go to the one toilet on our floor is blocked to the brim with very smelly shit and I've a weak stomach, wretch each time at the sight/ stench of it and then have nowhere to throw up - unless on top of someones shit.

Also, the toilet is right beside my office and opens directly on to the corridor so the smell lingers. I've yet to figure out who has this bowel problem despite being so close...

BacktoBasics is there not a kitchen where you work? Where do you waste time making tea for everyone in the building...?

But no, tea breaks are at certain times. Office workers seem to be able to get up whenever they want and make teaHmm

I worked in a very old fashioned laboratory once, as a student on a work placement. There were 3 of us students in total and it was our job to make the morning and afternoon tea. Tea breaks were set, and were only 15 minutes long - so the student was dispatched to the teeny tiny kitchen to make everyone's tea 10 mins prior to teabreak. Everyone had their own mug and everyone had their own way of taking it - and we had to remember who had it how.
I think in total there were about 20 or maybe 25 staff there. It was interesting... Grin
