AIBU?

To think that there is more to " taking the bins out" than just moving the wheelybin out to the kerb

Bins get collected this morning. DH " took the bins out" last night.

I go into the kitchen this morning to find the kitchen bin full to the brim. The freezer that he unplugged so everything defrosted unemptied and a pile of empty packaging on the worktop.

It's 2 weeks until the bin is collected again, 2 weeks for all that wasted food to stink.

AIBU to think that taking the bins out means emptying all rubbish needing collected out of the house, not just moving the wheelybin out to the kerb?!?!?

I feel your pain Sad

We have lived in our house for 7 years. Bin collection day has not changed in all that time. Every week I have to remind dh to put the bins out. If I don't remind him before I go to bed (I go before him as up at 6am for work) he never remembers off his own back [sigh emoticon]

YANBU. He sounds like a lazy arse

YANBU. What a twat.

It's bloody obvious and he is just being lazy. If he tells you you didn't give 'specific' instructions, tell him to sleep on the couch.

Not that I get annoyed about mangy bins or anything. HmmGrin Luckily DH has got the message loud and clear.

Gah, I have just heard the bin lorry now, had I realised it hadn't been yet I would have sorted it out.

Make him take it to the tip when he gets home ( or on the weekend if not open late enough during week). Problem solved.

I take my own bins out at least that way it gets done.

Do you do everything for your DH then Fabbychic, while he just sits on his arse waiting for you to serve him?

  1. We have a fair division of tasks and taking the bins out is one of his.

  1. He went out to do it so I assumed (wrongly) that it was done.

  1. I have scarlet fever and not really feeling up to sorting out bins.

When DH does the bins, he empties all the bins in the house (kitchen, bathroom, loo), takes the recycling out, empties the cat litter tray and then hoovers (normaly the whole flat, but at least sweeps up in the kitchen while the bin's empty)

YANBU at all

Our bin collection sound similar, but they changed it just before Xmas from a Friday to a Tuesday, which was a frigging nightmare as neither of is ever remembered it.

So I put reminders on my phone of which had to go out when. Then he moaned about me nagging him about it or only seeing the reminder at 10pm, so I got him to put the reminders on his phone instead Grin!!

We solved this problem by giving the job to DS (6) to put them out before he goes to bed in return he gets a packet of match attacks and I get my bins put out as DH and I never remember. DS is very good he empties all the bins in the house and I like to think that when he is older he will make a very nice DH to someone :)

YANBU. Taking the bins out is my DH's job in our house - I haven't done it for years, and I have never once had to remind him. He always empties the kitchen and bathroom bins, the recycling etc.

However, he is also guilty of having "accidentally" unplugged the freezer on a couple of occasions. Angry

To me taking the bin out is done first thing on morning on way to work and as we both hate mornings it just consists of putting that week's wheelie bin on the pavement, nothing else. Emptying the household bins into the wheelie bin is a different job. The different house bins get emptied into the outside bins at different frequencies anyway.
If we remember to put the right wheelie bin out we're happy, the kitchen bin gets emptied every day or so anyway as it's small.

My neighbours put my bin out if I can't be arsed forget. Sometimes the bin men come and get it.

You can guarantee that when I come down on bin day the bin is always full and I hear the wagon coming into the street as I'm slurping a cuppa in my nightie. Come to think of it the bin men have seen some sights on bin day.

I have no one else to blame though. I'm the only adult in the house.

My neighbour usually puts my bin out. If she hasn't by the time I remember I do mine and hers. I put the recycling (hers and mine) out.

Glad I've seen this thread as recycling is every fortnight and I have to put it out tonight.
