I have flu.

Not a cold. Full blown, achey, slightly delirious, feverish, banging headache etc etc

Have been up with DCs since 5.30am, have played doctors, 'cinderella', read stories, changed nappies, made lunch, cleared up and sorted out about 5 arguments.

DH left to play football at 8am saying he would be back 'after 1pm'. It's now 1.27

He'd better fucking get back in the next 3 minutes or I'll be filing for divorce.

U?

DH was at work but now back in, and i am snuggled up in bed

could you go up stairs and get into bed and let dc play about, at least you would be resting?

DH and I had a lovely child free day yesterday and today I have been a moody cow and he has had enough. I think he might leave me alone for the rest of the day. I am pissed off with myself tbh.

I daren't - have a morbid fear of them choking/electrocuting themselves.

At least their watching cbeebies now. Blush

I'm so pissed of DH isn't back.

He's back! I'm now in bed. No divorce necessary. He's very grateful he played football as he bloody should be.

I'm not sure you have an actual flu if you can physically manage to do all that. Sounds like a bad cold to me, if you had the flu you would be in bed, not making lunch and playing with kids.

I was just going to say what Buzz said...I couldn't even use the internet when I had flu, let alone play games with my kids.

Hope you're feeling better soon.

it is possible to do those things with flu. I had a very bad case of swine flu and still had to cook dinner read books and play doctors and wipe bottoms etc. luckily enough reading books and playing doctors does involve alot of laying on your back with eyes closed attempting to avaiod the odd impliment being forced down my neck to take my temp and administar medicine. Grin.

hope you are feeling better soon OP.

Buzz, I don't know what it is but it's much worse than a cold and I felt like I was going to black out a couple of times. There was no choice about making their lunch. As for playing I did it lying on the floor pretending to be a patient or whatever. Poor DD1 kept saying 'Mummy, what's wrong? Have you got some bad germs?'

I've got pneumonia and pleurisy. I've been ill since Christmas, but had the pneumonia for about 10 days. I'm still on the internet and I'm still having to sort out kids etc too.

I feel like crap, I'd rather be in bed etc but life goes on.

I'm not saying that in a martyrish kind of way, just because people are saying the whole "you dont have flu if you can get out of bed" thing but you can have flu and do that...you feel crap doing it but if you do stuff with pneumonia and pleurisy then you can do stuff with flu.

Not to say you should to be fair.

Sorry I just get a cobb-on that whenever anyone says they have flu anymore, someone will tell them they "just have a cold". My sister in law tried to tell me I had a cold. Yes, because pleurisy is a common side effect of a cold Hmm

Sorry, have the arse with this lately.

x post Tatty - he's back.

Also I agree - if you have no choice you just do stuff whether you feel unable to or not.

Its true.

I've been doing the bare minimum. Like seriously cutting corners with the kids. More ding meals this year than I care to mention, Nick Jnr on the box, me lying there looking ferocious in a "dont even think about coming for a cuddle and elbowing me in the lung" kind of way.

Sometimes I go upstairs to proper bed and just let them trash the joint. I dont care.

Nappies I do under extreme duress and only if its a poo. Then I rant and rave througout, clutching my inflamed lung melodramatically with the air of the deeply wronged.

Poor little urchins!

Tatty I agree also. I've also had flu, pneumonia and pleurisy starting before Christmas. But so did DH - he didn't get pleurisy but was trying to keep working from home. So we just did childcare tag. One of us would be dying in bed and the other trying to keep the DC's entertained. Then swap over when someone woke up. You do what you have to do - with all the corners cut. My kids had a rude awakening when I got better and the tv finally went off!

Hope you both feel better soon. And kitty, hope your DH is doing some serious grovelling.

Cutting corners is great though. Hair becomes self-cleansing, and if you dont bother to sweep up after mealtimes, they dont bother you at snack time, they just forage for scraps from the floor...

Went to Doc this am - he reckons it is flu virus and bronchitis and has given anti biotics.

So wasn't just a cold then.

DH now away this week with work. AAGGGGHHHHHHH

Kids are just going to have to survive with me doing minimum and ridiculous amounts of cbeebies.

At the moment they are ransacking the lounge and dropping food all over the floor.

Might follow your tip Tatty, re snack time Grin
