To think that Ann Summers are ridiculous for putting on live underwear models for men view underwear on for Valentine's Day?

I mean, it's hard romantic knowing that your other half was ogling another woman in the underwear he's bought for you!

Then there is the issue of having live underwear models for men to perv over in a high street sex shop.

Hardly romantic, I meant to say!

ROFL! I think this one might backfire on A.S. funnily enough. A lot of men aren't very comfortable walking through the M&S lingerie section where the mannequins are plastic. Lots of harrumphing and 'I'll meet you by the sportswear' goes on. A real live model wiggling her tushie could prove to be more offputting than alluring.

Mine would be finished if he bought me something from Ann Summers, full stop. I've never been in but judging from what's in the window it's all vile nylony shite. Grounds for divorce.

Just asked DH if he would go in there when they had live models and he said "NO FUCKING WAY! I wouldnt go in there anyway, but definetely not then!"

I am guessing I am not getting undies for Valentines then :o

I think it's going to backfire big time because you'd have to be super confident not to imagine him thinking it looked better on the model lol.

Oh, gosh that is stupid.

It seems like a strange idea anyway - don't you find that if you bump into men in an underwear shop just before Valentine's day, they are usually looking terrified and trying desperately not to meet anyone's eye?

I really really doubt most men want to go ogle a live woman modeling underwear when they're trying to buy something nice for another woman!

Didn't know about the live models... but the lingerie is not all nylony shite you'll be pleased to know. You can pick up some rather lovely bits..... and lingerie! lol Grin

I used to work for them and they are awful! Horribly cheap tat kept in ratty conditon stock rooms (items often left all over stock rooms dirty floor) and forever pushing credit cards store cards with extortionate interest rates and crooked and extortionate tactics on customers. Honestly, they take the cheapest rubbish and box it prettily so they can fob it off at extortionate prices to unsuspecting customers. You even have to pay for a lingerie catalogue and its only about 20 pages long ffs. I know I am having a rant but if only people knew!

Ha! That's hilarious!!

My poor bloke would be TERRIFIED!!

Can't see him going in there.

M&S stuff is just as sexy, much nicer, better made and lasts longer.

(Get me, just turned into my mother!)

My DH couldn't bear being in a normal underwear section, buying a nursing bra with me and his DD, yesterday. I can't imagine what he would do if confronted by real people in lingerie. His head would explode.

I agree re: M&S underwear but I am still boycotting them for helping them to inflict a bloody Hooters on Bristol (thank you M&S!). I have vowed not to go in there until their association with Hooters is at an end.

Re: the live models...I imagine there'll be lots of men visiting to perv who either won't buy anything or who will something cheap which they'll discard later. I think this is a really cynical ploy by Ann Summers. I do believe most men aren't as crass as to buy underwear that they've checked out on another woman.

'You even have to pay for a lingerie catalogue and its only about 20 pages long ffs.'

tragically I am sure many people men are happy to pay for it.... I would hazard a guess that the people who want to peruse the catalogue at length are not the same as the ones who might actually buy something from there IYSWIM.

Jess, don't you think their sales will go down though? It'd be like something out of a horror film wouldn't it - you're just walking past a dimly-lit window when what you think is a mannequin MOVES! Eek!

Btw, DH has just pointed out the parallel with Stella on the Apprentice sitting in the window during their shop task ... that image would successfully kill any enthusiasm for most men, surely?!

Hey, surely the tatty nylon underwear is for him, anyway? So that's what the women buy their men whilst their heads are being turned by the live models. Then they escort them to a nice chocolatier for their own Valentine's Day present.

I'd feel very uncomfortable looking at women in their underwear in public.......in private, thats a different matter :o

underwear is the crappest pressie going. Let's face it he enjoys it more.

Mind you I think Valentine's Day is a pile to toss anyway.

I work in a city centre male dominated office.
Since the live models appeared at AS word has got around the office and they're all nipping out to have a perv and some have taken photos on their phones. How sad. If that's not bad enough, I work on the same street as Agent Provocateur which have window displays which push the boundaries and they're only on mannequins! Desperate times for shops if this is what they have to do to make sales! Sheer titillation for men. Would be funny if one of the guys walked past to see his own girlfriend/wife standing there!

OP, you sound the insecure, jealous type. Do you think that more underwear, less underwear or the same amount of underwear will be bought if VS entertain/intrigue their male customers whilst also relaxing them? Have a think and post back your answer.

Next week on Sales Tactics 101 we'll be discussing other ideas for businesses to increase their revenue. Tune in!

Eh?

Anyway, yes it's a daft idea, for the reasons everyone else said. DH came into Agent Provocateur with me once and he was huffy about the sales girls wearing those skimpy nurse dresses, stating it "was not professional" Ha ha ha,bless his cottons.

It is ridiculous - what a low opinion they have of their customers, men and women. I agree with the posters who think most men would be terrified (or just be going in for a dare).

And their stuff is as sexy as thrush, isn't it?
