AIBU?

to be angry at XP?

DCs went to their dad's for dinner tonight (DS is 12, DD is 6). I picked them up around 7 to find DD in tears.

DS told me that DD was playing on the floor with the dog when dinner was served, she got up to eat and banged her head on the edge of the table. XP told her "stop being a clutz and come eat", she didn't move (nasty cut on head so was crying) so he set her plate on the floor and told her to eat it like the dog does, without using her hands!

I called XP and he said "I was punishing her for not coming to the table. I can punish her how I want in my house". By humiliating her? Not to mention his new gf and her two kids were there...

Aaaaaaarghh. What a knob.

Tell him he can't have them anymore as he's obviously not enough of a father to even tend to his injured child.

He has to prove he's capable now.

What a horrible man.

And point out that she hit her head as she was Getting Up To Go To The Table. So he punished her for nothing.

That is awful. i have a friend that was made to do that as a kid, it really has affected him.

I cant believe anyone would think that is acceptable.

Total dickhead!
I would not be sending her there again!
She injured herself unintentionally following his instructions then he punished her by cruelty and humiliation.
Your poor dd, hope she's ok.

I wouldn't send them there again. I would have rammed his head up the dogs arse but that would be cruel to the dog.

I would say that would be abuse and you should report him for it! Honestly, if this is the first instance in a long line of humiliating punishments then you want it on record - if it is not then it won't matter IYSWIM.

Angry? I'd be homicidal!

I'd also be telling him that today was the very last time he was seeing my children until I was absolutely sure that he could behave like a decent human being and even then all further contact would be supervised by a person of my choice.

What a shit.

I hope your daughter's okay - you're damn right YANBU.

It's abuse. I dropped spaghetti and toast on the floor when I was about six and my mum made me eat it off the floor. I have never forgotten it and I feel sick whenever I remember it. Awful thing to do. I wouldn't let her go back tbh.

Abusive. plain and simple. I would be loathed to allow my child near the man, but realistically you will likely have to. I would definitely take some advice or at the very least set some rules with your exp. What a pathetic excuse for a man.

Oh jeez that's a horrible way to treat your dd when she had done nothing wrong and hurt herself fgs!

omg. What an arsehole!!
Another thing to think about, what did xp new gf do? If she just sat there and didn't intervene or suggest he was being harsh, what does that make her? Would you really like you dd to go and stay there if they both condone this type of abusive treatment?
Words fail me Angry

I hope your dd wasn't too badly injured and recovers soon
