AIBU?

in finding the names of Hotmilk nursing bras to be completely bizarre?

DewinDoeth · 08/01/2011 21:51

Just bought three (cheap, mind, not full price!).
I have...
Her desire was dangerous
Awakened by her desire
and
Tamed by her sensuality

Others include: Her tangled web tantalised, She was seemingly unaware (of what, like?), Her midnight charm was striking, and Radiant in her rescue.

Who thinks these things up? And why nursing bras?! Confused

DH suggested more appropriate ones: But she retches in the mornings (I'm pg...), She hasn't slept for months, Her breasts are tender and swollen...

I thought this was going to be about the name Hotmilk! (which in itself is the reason I've never bought from them).

Even more so YANBU!

LOL, I hadn't even thought of that! They're lovely bras and I do adore a lovely bra.
But so bizarre - completely over-sexualized.

DH has his own complaint tho - my boobs look like I've had really decent, realistic implants; I'm wearing drop down bras, and he gets smacked - really hard - if he even attempts to go near them! Grin

I haven't noticed the names, I LOVE LOVE LOVE Hot Milk bras, they're beautiful-even if a little pricey. But they last forever, just because you're pg doesn't mean you have to clad your breasts in dire Mothercare ones!

But the names, I agree, are a bit bizarre. Nothing pornographic about breast feeding. Or is there? I'm a bit naive Blush

I didn't think there was anything sexy about it - but then, I was the owner of those leaky dodgy boobs when I did it! Grin
Surely if you were into bf porn Hmm the bra wouldn't really matter?

They are lovely - but I always want to be wearing a bra that I can be proud of were I caught in some clothes-ripping-off unfortunate incident in public. Also detracts from sagginess and stuff...

And apparently it's HOTmilk. Maybe you shout the first bit? Grin

You mean like "NEWSpapers, get ya NEWSpapers". Perhaps, although I think they're only an internet business, so thankfully I'll never have to scream HOTmilk in some poor passer-by-er's face, when looking for directions!

Eurgh bf porn. Are you serious?

Well after your post I googled out of curiosity...Blush (or rather, ) there is plenty. But I did not click on anything. I'm permanently nauseous due to being pg...

I personally like DH's suggestion that I can earn extra cash once I'm not pg/bf/slightly overweight by working in a night job which might involve a quick flash of the boobs, using my (otherwise defunct) HOTmilk bras... Wink
(He's not some weird porn addict, but has a funny take on things - why don't ladies of the night buy these bras with flaps, peephole tops etc?! And don't get him started on the Tommee Tippee Closer to Nature bottles which 'mimic the feel and texture of a breast' fnar fnar... Hm, I think maybe he's suffering from lack of access to real breasts! Wink)

YANBU about the names, but they irritate me anyway because they do not do my size. Perticularly for those of us who were larger to start with then just get tooo big when bf.

I thought the whole idea was that it's meant to make you feel better about yourself, hence the over the top mills & boon type names.

DewinDoeth where did you buy them? I've been trying to find some in the sale but couldn't find any in my size.

Doris now that is a shame. There's a market out there - nursing bras are so limited. I'm a standard cup (although a g-h when milk came in last time Grin) but a 32, and large stores eg M&S start at 34. Why is it assumed that women, once pg/bfing, desperately want to wear a jersey bra?

What is even more fecking annoying is that despite being called HotMILK some of the bras are not even nursing bras Angry, waste of fecking money that was!

I'm imagining you going on Dragons' Den with jersey bras on. Meadon would love that.

Your dh has a point reg, the peephole bras. Bravo to him.

Maybe he can go on Dragons' Den with you?

I'm a 32GG normally but when to a 34H when pregnant, HOT(!)milk did my size.

and lol ha ha ha ha ha I can't believe you Googled it. That's made my night. At least I know it exists. Gosh what weirdos (your dh excused of course!)

Lavita - I will reveal! Here. I followed a link which I found on e-bay, but they arrived today, are brand new in packaging, next day delivery so I'd recommend.
HOTmilk at £20 - hard to get anything cheaper (figleaves has a sale but very limited in sizing). Some of them are last season, or even season before that - but it bothers me not.

Doris they do large sizes, and I had a go clicking on H cup - there's one (somewhat dull!) HOTmilk bra, and some lovely looking Bravado ones.

Lady hmm, yeah...Meadon, has she got children? Probably not (although I could be doing the lady a massive dishonour there).

I would like to stress again that my DH is not particularly kinky and likes breasts, but they do not turn him on when they're lactating! Grin (Although some of his comments make me think that perhaps he should consider working in the porn industry as an ideas man - if his current very respectable work dries up. I don't dare reveal what he does now!)

oh still bf dd3 and boobs have shrunk to GG/H just need to justify to self, that I will use it (dd3 is 18mth and I'm fully expecting self-weaning to occur anytime Sad) Particularly if I spend on a new nursing bra!

DewinDoeth · 08/01/2011 22:35

Doris lol, that's guaranteed to bring on self-weaning!
Mind you, I find the HOTmilk bras to be really supportive and give a good shape - and you won't go down completely for a while... Promise I don't work for them! Grin

No, not a priest.
Although maybe it wouldn't be a huge surprise that he has strange leanings? Keep guessing!

YANBU. I've thought about this before. I can't quite put my finger on or articulate what I find disturbing about 'Hot Milk' and why.

However, it's something about how the branding seems desperate to re-sexualise the now lactating breast. I find this slightly offensive despite being able to experience my breasts differently in two contexts (sexual and breastfeeding).

I also hate so-called 'sexy' lingerie in general. I don't think it's arousing to wear, and men who are into that kind of stuff don't turn me on. So...I won't be buying any 'Hot Milk' stuff.

If a man doesn't think I'm sexy because I'm breastfeeding, that's his problem, not mine. I won't be trying to seduce him back with frilly lingerie.

I didn't have sex while literally leaking in the first 8 weeks. I wore those bras for me so I wouldn't feel frumpy and shit.

Still it's horses for courses. Mothercare has to stock somebody.

Hmm ok not a priest, but a very respectable job...family GP (?) no, that would be too weird with leaking boobs and ideas of porn....is he a plastic surgeon?

Great prices although unfortunately no 36C ones just like figleaves Sad.
I'll keep an eye on that site though. I have bought 2 Elle Macpherson ones full price as I hate the ugly nursing bra, they make me think of dinner ladies Grin

Ohyay - you have a good point, and well made. I started off being jokey - because it was a jokey conversation between DH and I when my bras arrived and he said what are they called?! But actually, it is a bit disturbing and yucky.
I don't buy them for my DH's - the last thing I wanted with my squirting engorged breasts was him pawing at me - and he totally respected that. (He still was loving and great, but he just assumed/accepted that the breasts were otherwise engaged!) And breastfeeding is a completely non-sexual thing anyway - or so I thought.

I wonder now whether I should start a far more serious thread about this - or at least write to the company.

Dewin, I agree breastfeeding is completely non-sexual. Perhaps the discomfort is because Hot Milk branding combines the contexts of sex and feeding? Or implies that breastfeeding de-sexualizes you, so that you need lingerie to make up for it?

Again, I have issues with the whole 'sexy' lingerie industry anyway.
