It really gives me the irrits. And only ever seems to be used by daily Mail-type writers to belittle the thoughts and opinions of people they disagree with: generally women and/or left-wingers.

It has cropped up on here a few times lately, and despite being a generally sanguine type, every time I see it, I feel my spleen getting up a head of steam for a rant.

AIBU?

And feel free to add your own.

I agree it generally belittles the thoughts and opinions of those used on.

Its not a nice thing to say. I tend to only use it self-depreciatingly

"I'll stop bleating on now" etc etc.

YANBU

Bleating is for sheep only, not humans.

But 'bleating' is so apt in many cases. Speech descending into irritating wailing noises for no apparent reason. I'm afraid you can't put it into Room 101 just because the Daily Mail like the term.

You could keep the phrase 'reckless gamble' however. It's obviously Labour HQ's phrase of the day and I'm convinced the Shadow Cabinet are on some kind of bonus depending on how often they can squeeze it into an interview!

Can I please add the word lavish as used by the Mail and Express as in:

People on benifits get lavish hand outs.

I'd also suspend posting rights of anyone who says things like 'Well, I'm only a head in a jar and I went back to work 80 hours a week, with no support, before they'd even delivered the placenta and I manage so why should I..blah, blah, blah fucking blah...?'

...oh and the one that I hate the most is 'I don't pay my taxes'

How about we just ban Gideon from talking that should cover most annoying phrases, second thoughts lets ban him from breathing
