well am i?
he has his own laptop - and its fucked ...again 2nd time in 6 weeks (he is a jinx on computers)
so he is using my nice netbook. the only reason i got my own machine was that i got sick of re loading all my itunes music, playlists and photos after he wiped it all.because his first resort to any issue however minor seems to be reloading the OS and wiping everything off
i'm twitching with annoyance that he didnt even bloodywell ask to use it fgs.
most of our stuff is shared, but AIBU for just wanting one shiny little thing that is all my own - i wouldn't touch his xbox or his laptop (if it was working)

oh yeah, we have this in our house!

dp has the desktop as "his" although it's actually the family computer.

When he stopped working I got fed up of not being able to mumsnet check my emails so saved up for months and got a netbook.

Cue dp using mine because he can use it whilst watching telly, whilst being warm in the living room instead of in the front room where desktop is, whilst rebuilding the desktop (which somehow manages to take WEEEEEEEKS!!!!) etc etc etc.

Password protect the login and don't tell him what it is.

That's what my computer has.

What Tee said.
I have the same problem and he keeps trying to use my iPhone now because it's better than his phone.
So annoying!

Windows is password protected alas it has HP instant web, brilliant idea but now i cant stop him using that.
least he cant get into the OS.
AIBU to say no if he asks for the password? i feel a bit like a spoilt child but he does have a history, and it is MINE

I feel very protective of my computer. Someone going on it is like letting someone play with my phone. Sure there's nothing wrong with it in theory, but it just feels like letting someone go through my personal things. I've got nothing to hide, as such, but lots of creative writing, pics (clean ones!), etc that I don't want just anyone seeing. Yet when we have visitors they always want to 'borrow' the PC. URGH NO!

He's being a twat - it's yours and if he uses it he'll overlay all your stuff with his, won't he?

I can't think of anything much else I would mind DH nicking, but not this.
