AIBU?

to think washing machines shouldn't make that noise.

Not exactly a deadly serious Aibu but worrying me!

Put on a load of washing, medium size load, mainly t-shirts, underwear etc, nothing hard in there that I'm aware of.
Washing machine is making terrible noises. So far I have counted: Slight pinging noise, Increased pinging noise, tapping noise, wooden-legged-pirate-on-deck noise, popping noise, cat-in-trashcan noise and what can only be described as metallic sucking noise.

Now I'm not an expert, so does anyone know if this means I've foolishly put something hard and metallic in there with the clothes, I'm going crazy, or there's something wrong with the washing machine...?

It will almost certainly be your drum. Something to do with bearings. You need to get someone out before it needs replacing (so I was told by my ace repair guy when I'd got to the point that the drum did need replacing).

Thanks for replies and not thinking I'm nuts..
Trouble is it's a rented flat. Atm it's just making a mild popping sound, any way other than the noise to tell if it's the bearings? I don't want my landlady to think I'm completely bonkers..
