Avoiding allergens in pregnancy?

DD 21 months has severe dairy allergy, also allergic to egg, wheat and more. I am 24 weeks pregnant should I be avoiding more than the recommended peanuts? Not getting anywhere asking doc/midwife etc

It's funny you know, in the US you are encouraged to eat peanut butter in pregnancy for nutrition. TBH I avoided every sodding thing in pregnancy and it just made me miserable.

Perhaps you should contact Allergy UK on 01322 619898 and they can provide advice (and they know what they are talking about).

Don't know DD is 9 months - has no allergies as yet and has had everything including peanuts already. But I doubt she would have anyway. I had mild allergies as a teen but nothing major. I guess we just don't carry the atopic gene.

Peanut butter is sacred. I didn't give it up. And I feed it me kids too. If DDs school doesn't get their act together on healthy meals, I'm considering sending her in with peanutbutter and jam sandwiches just to be a pain in the arse.

i craved milkshake in pg both times and both my DDs have what i would call dairy "intolerances"

DD1 gets one very runny/blocked nostril after eating a lot of milk/cheese (yet she craves it and wants it all the time)

DD2 had severe eczema as a baby until i changed her milk. even now if she has a lot of dairy her skin will totally dry out.

so, what i am saying is that although there is no recommendation re allergens (as far as i know) i wouldn't be surprised if there was a link.

I craved peanut butter on toasts in both pregnancies (before any warnings) and DS is allergic to peanuts, seed and treenuts whereas DD has no allergies.

I meant to say there were warnings about 10 years ago against eating peanuts while pregnant as it worried me , as DH is allergic to some nuts and I did ask doctor.
DS's allergies didn't really show up until he was 4.

I was wondering about this too. I am obviously already going to be worried if/when I get pregnant again after a miscarriage and a baby with heart trouble, but he also has allergies to dairy, eggs, almost all nuts and wheat and intolerant to soya. Would I just need to avoid the recommended things or milk, eggs, wheat ect?

I read somewhere that you avoid eating any one food group to excess while pregnant to help prevent allergies but can't remember where i read it or if it was an evidence based comment (not much help really). I wish there was more information available as i really want to everything i can to reduce the risks.
