dd1 had another small lip swelling incidence today. over the last week she has been put on two different lots of antibiotics (amyoxcillin, and trimethapen) due to chest infection and UTI.

the swelling was very very slight, and she said it hurt. it felt 'harder' as well. had given piriton an hour before, so GP said to see what happens. its all gone now.

just wish we knew why she keeps doing this.

Misdee, is your daughter allergic to penicillin? My son is and he needs to take non penicillin antibiotics. Thankfully since finding this out he hasn't needed to take any so I don't know what trimethapen is - is it penicillin based? I hope someone else here can advise though, but for me, if her lips are swelling, that doesn't sound good. Poor girl. How is she otherwise? No rash or being sick or anything?

she is fine in herself. no more swelling, hasnt reacted to either antibiotics before now. GP feeling is it may be becayse of the eczema on her top lip and it being irritated.

it looks fine now, and with all the extra antibitics her eczema isnt as inflamed either. her breathing is fine, no wheezing, hasnt been sick,

its like a very small purple/red blister comes up on it.

Hi, might it be strawberries?

I only ask because my son just touched an unwashed strawberry to his lip, then didn't eat it, and came up with a swelling on his lip.

We went to the pharmacist and were given piriton liquid, thank goodness it went down.

He's had well washed strawberries since then, and so have I first!! and no problems.
