dd is 20 months and first got excema at 15 weeks, which peaked at 8 months and is now on visible once in a while on elbow, behind knees and neck, but again only once in a while. I still treat her the same though, still moisturise albeit only 1- 2 times a day now and have baths in aveeno.

i want to start swimming lessons with her. half hour at a time. pool i have chosen says they have only minute amount of chlorine and it is UV treated.

question is what other precaustions should i take, or should i just not bring her.

i am thinking of getting some epaderm for her and plastering that on first, then putting on a wet suit / UV suit?

anyone sucessfully taken excema sufferer swimming when she seems to be growing out of it?

Yes, I'd go for it. Obviously children are all different but our experience with our DD was a good one. We seemed to manage it by plastering her with moisturiser before she went in and showering off and replastering with moisturizer as soon as we got out. This seemed to minimise any potential ill effects. Our philosophy was to try and see and luckily it worked out for us. If you do it, good luck - I hope she enjoys it!

Is there such a thing as a swimming suit that covers the whole body so that LO's with excema can swim in chlorinated pool?

plaster her with epiderm or similar barrier-type moisturing ointment that you use (vaseliney stuff). SHould help protect her skin from the chlorine.

See hwo it goes after one or two lessons
