Is this a food allergy?

I had a curry tonight, a takeaway. After eating it I noticed I was numb at the corner of both my lips and my tongue felt 'funny'. I took some piriton that I have in because of having hay fever and it cleared up. I've never had a food allergy before and it seems odd that one might develop in my thirties.

Was it from a Chinese?, I react to MSG,I can eat chillies and never have any reaction from them but I was given spicy food from an early age.
I don't have allergies per se but MSG makes me quite ill. I feel thirsty and feel a " coated" sensation in my mouth. I'm careful about seafood from take outs as it is fed allsorts of stuff in Bangladesh and other countries it is farmed.

No, Indian; a vegetarian curry with rice and bread. My tongue did feel kind of coated though.
