Kindy seems too good to be true!

Ds's name was top of the waiting list for afternoon kindy, so I went in and explained he already had an afternoon place for 2 of the 3 afternoons at a private pre school that looked after him well and met his needs. I said I would wait for a morning place to come up "when the other children will be older and more sensible - which should make up for the ratio of adults to children being less." They explained that this would be in a year's time and I said - fine if that's what it is.

Then one of the teachers spent some time with Bob talking to him and playing with him, went to talk to the other teachers and came back and said he was ready for morning kindy now, and so he could start next year in Feb (before he is even 4).

Part of me is scared s*less at my little boy being away each morning - but the other part knows that this lovely teacher will look after him and nurture his love of learning.

Preschool is great, but they do coddle him a lot and he will have to be a lot harder at school. Also kindy is a LOT cheaper.

Big step but sounds like he is ready to go for it.

I always thought I was going to be a lentil weaving - "we send children to school much too early type" - but in ds's case he is totally ready and will enjoy it.

He can't start school early however ready he is though until he is 5.

Perhaps we should swap LOL- DS3 starts nursery school Wedneasday, he's SO not ready! But wothout it we risk his school place thereafter. He can't even talk!

They're not cool about the allergies either 'under no circumstances will we allow children to bring their own food to nursery, all children have milk and cheesy biscuits'.

Well one snack like that love and you'll be scrubbing diarrhoea out the carpets for the next deacde. you quite sure....?
