but not to milk containing products i.e cheese, yoghurts etc?

DD3 is an allergy sufferer in general and has been displaying all the classic signs to milk intolerance, i.e runny eyes, sneezing, nausea and stamach pains usually with in half an hour of having any milk.

we have been giving her soya milk for the past 5 days and slowly reducing the amount of cows milk, all these symptoms are slowly disappearing, however she has still been eating yoghurts and cheese etc.

Yes I do think there is a difference.
DS has a real problem with milk and will only tolerate yogourt and..... ice cream LOL

If you are lactose intolerant, then many ummmm 'fermented' milk products such as cheese and yoghourt contain much less lactose - which is why they are not sweet! So I suppose it would be logical that someone might not be as sensitiive to them. Don't know how the ice-cream fits in.......unless its only milk fat or something. I suppose it depends on the ingredients.

Her symptoms are allergic symptoms, not intolerance i.e. immune system response not just digestive. So I'd avoid all milk products, if I were you, at least until you can discuss with your GP or consultant (if you are already seeing one about the other allergies). Luckily most children grow out of milk allergies.

Edam, our GP has refused to send her for allergy testing as he thinks that her allergies are all environmental.

She has just finished a 6month course of anti-hystamines and her reactions are not as severe as they were previously, it's just that she now seems to have a continously runny nose, sneezing, runny eyes and a cough as well. (In all fairness she was like this at times when on anti-hystamines as well). TBH I feel that we're just clutching at straws with the dairy thing!

Don't understand your GP. Bizarre. All allergies are environmental as in your body coming into contact with foreign substances from the environment...

my cousins gp refused to send her for allergy testing as he said that food allergies/intolerances are a figment of the imagination!!!!

my aunt paid privately and it turned out (as she expected) that she was intolerant to dairy and gluten
