Hi all

My SW mentioned that there are new laws that state that companies have to offer the same as they would for maternity but I cannot find any info online about this, only that statutory adoption pay is the same as SMP now. Any ideas or any ladies recently adopted?

I work for the nhs and their policy is very similar for adopters as it is for women going on maternity. As in you can take up to a year if with a sliding scale of pay over the with last 3 month being unpaid. If you go on the link below this should help //www.gov.uk/adoption-pay-leave/pay

The biggest change is that stat pay and leave it is a day one right rather than needing a certain amount of service. If you have any specific questions feel free to inbox me, I'm a week into my AS being home and also a HR Manager Smile

Thanks ladies. I had a look on gov.co.uk but my work offers additional maternity pay which means that on maternity I would be on 90% of my wage for the first 18 weeks rather than just 6 before going down t smp. Does that mean I am entitled to this too? or just the same as SMP?

Thanks again

Raise it with your HR dept, the policies should really mirror each other for best practice but unfortunately adoption seems to be a low priority as so fewer employees impacted so it may just be that they haven't even thought about it. The ACAS website is very useful and is usually much clearer than the gov websites.

Thank you. I will have a look at that.
