Have fostered through family and friends for the last three years but now they're asking us to go for a SGO, do we have to or can we stay with fostering.

I don't think you have to, it is a conversation about what is best for the children and for your family. There are many benefits to it, but you may also lose any access to support as easily.
FRG are very good for kinship carers, and might be worth giving a ring to get more information.
I suppose it boils down to whether you want social workers staying in the children's lives!

From a school point of view I'm aware it ends any support from the virtual school e.g. LSAs etc. You also (well in my borough) can't access the designated CAMHS, play therapy etc if they are. Renumeration is limited to 2 years post SGO. Some also have found that it ends PPP too (depends on status)
