Help: space shuttle/rocket and launch site

DS (3 1/2) wants a 'rocket launcher' for Christmas, by which he means a site to launch rockets into space. We've found a Playmobil one (Playmobil 6195 City Action Space Rocket with Launch Site, Lights & Sound www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B00VLV5SB8/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_129qybYQN51C1?tag=mumsnet&ascsubtag=mnforum-21 ) but am worried that it's quite big and a bit old for him. It's so hard to find any other good ones. Have Googled and Amazoned extensively but drawing a blank.

Anyone any suggestions, or experience of the one linked?

DS had this last christmas at 4.5, he plays with it with DS2 who is now 2.5 - he loves it and it has coped with a very boisterous toddler! It's pretty big but not enormous, and they both love it, playmobil lasts really well.

Playmobil is the best one I've seen, my ds has had Playmobil stuff from 3. I'd go for it, you can always reserve some of the tiny bits for the time being.

Great. Thanks for your comments. Happy to get it if he's going to be able to play with it.

We bought the playmobil one for ds's 5th birthday and I'd say it's quite fiddly for younger ones - ds isn't very dextrous though for his age. It's huge and hasn't been played with for a while now, after the initial excitement. Imaginext did a space launcher thing, not sure if they still sell it though?

Dd wants a space rocket too and I'm thinking of getting the happyland one.

My ds is five and a half and still plays with the Happyland one with his sister. It's been really good.

The Imaginext rocket is absolutely fantastic and part of a whole range of space toys which all play brilliantly together. But the old model is much better than the current one. It's incredibly expensive to buy new because they aren't made anymore but you can get fantastic deals on secondhand ones. I got one for my DS for part of his 4th birthday present and I got the rocket/launcher, astronauts, extra vehicles and aliens for £15.

I saw the Imaginext one and loved the look of it but am struggling to find a decent 2nd hand one. The new version looks rubbish. Will investigate Happyland!
