Anime/manga/graphic novels

DD (12) has just started saying she'd like anime dvds and manga/graphic novels for Christmas because one of her friends is into them but don't know where to start. She likes Pokemon and just started watching Fairy Tail but has no idea beyond that. Any ideas of 'entry level' stuff to look for? DD likes watching my Studo Ghibli stuff with me but I've got no idea where to start, don't want to get anything verging into dodgy territory. Preferably bargainous stuff would be good too!

Fruits Basket, Sailor Moon, New Game, Himouto Umaru Chan are all 12 year old friendly ones. Love Live is another, its about school girls wanting to be pop idols. Check out a site called Crunchyroll, they have a lot of anime on it thats free to watch, though the ones I've suggested would be safe, it can pay to watch some before letting DD into it.

Kingdom Hearts is also a good anime book. My dd has a couple of the book sets, based on a video game and features Disney characters. Also vote for Sailor Moon!

My 9 year old started with Chi's Sweet Home and Yotsubaand! But her current obsession is Sailor Moon, think she is New Game too. I was looking at getting Fairy Tale and Swans in Space. I wish they weren't all so expensive!
