Just cleared out loads of toys ready for Christmas... Is eBay worth the hassle?

Feeling a bit bad as the toys are still age appropriate (have 3 DDs ranging from 4 weeks to 3.9) but just don't get used and we don't have the space to store.

Lets hope their Christmas presents fill up the toybox!!!

Gumtree much better than Ebay IMO.

I was glad I kept all dd1s toys though, even the ones she didn't play with as her younger sister is much more into toys than she is and I am finally getting my moneys worth out of them.

Gumtree was useless for me. When I cleared out DS stuff when he was a baby my DF told me to put it all on gumtree because its free and equally as good as ebay. We didn't have an ebay account at the time so I figured it would save us a lot of stress. It was well known and desired toys, a bumbo seat and a pram. After a week we had nothing, nadda.

Set up ebay, paid about £10 in fees for the whole lot and it all went. Well worth the small fees. I love ebay. Recently sold like 100 items, no lie. A bit annoying wrapping and lugging it all to post office and then standing there for 10 hours with a massive queue behind you getting impatient like.. Easier when its big stuff that is collected.

Yes, and this weekend is a free listing weekend, but if you run your auctions for 5 or 7 days you're starting to run the gauntlet with the Christmas post, even if your buyers pay immediately.

Have you checked if there are any local facebook selling pages in your area? Lots of them for my town, free to list with pictures and seen by lots of local people, I've used them a few times for toy clear outs and have got shot of it all. Means no fees, wrapping, postage costing, dragging parcels to post office, etc.

Do you have a local 'things for sale' Facebook group? I posted some things on last week, someone bought them within an hour and collected them that night. So much less hassle than ebay.

I think I will have another check through the boxes as DP a lot more ruthless than I am and put some pressure on :)

I'll have a look on Facebook. Just wasn't sure with eBay whether I'll be spending hours putting them on and posting them and only get a few pence out of it, I've just had a look and doesn't seem to be many bids on the toys I looked at.

I think ebay has gone off a little recently. I think postage prices are putting a lot of people off. Quite a few things I've listed recently didn't get any bids at all.

I think it's still good for niche/collectable stuff but I always resent the faff for the money I get on toys etc
