How to make Xmas special - first time host!

I will be hosting this year for 10 and feel a little nervous and excited. I would like to make this a Xmas to remember and one that everyone will enjoy.

Here's a rough plan of how the day will be structured so far...

Arrival - champagne and shop bought canapes!
Then the 'men' go for a drink in the pub which is ideal as I can get on with the meal. The ladies I thought I would set up a bar in the living room and stick on a xmas film/give them some mags.
Lunch served after Queen's speech - was thinking of bringing out a table present (something very jokey) at the end for each person.
Walk for those who want it at 5pm ish.
Small buffet about 8pm...

Would anyone be kind enough to share any special traditions or ideas they have that I could borrow (I mean steal!) for the day.

Thanks so much

Christmas in our family is about chilling out and being together.

We start the day with present opening, have a nice breakfast, take the dog for a walk then my mum and ILs arrive, everyone just chats/plays games with dsc and generally relaxes, me, dm and mil usually end up in the kitchen chatting while I cook and dp and fil amuse dsc. We have lunch about 1.30, dp, fil and dsc tidy the kitchen and wash up while me and dm go to the stables and mil watches tv.

We all go to the pub about 3pm then home for tea, everyone leaves about 7 when we settle down to watch tv.
