Is anyone else just not bothered about Christmas?

DH volunteers to work Christmas Day (he works shifts so steps in to let colleagues with kids have the day off)
DS and DDIL are on Australia this Christmas South Africa the last few.
DGD (17) is with her mum for Christmas.
Do I mind?
Not one but, I have a lovely day feet up food I want walk the dogs and watch what I want on TV
We don't even do presents really as we usually give them money for their holiday and take DGD shopping before Christmas.
DH and I get each other something small as to be honest we don't want much and if we do we get it when we see it.
We do have a meal together on New Years Eve before they all go out tho.
I suppose it might change when DS and DDIL have a baby, but they will still want to go back to SA for some Christmases ( DDIL is from there).

Sounds lovely.
Dh and ds are off to Oz on Christmas Day, so just me and dd for 3 weeks.
Dh and I are similar to you on the gift front.
And I ignore New Year.

I remember quite a few Christmasses as a child where Dad would work at least part of Christmas day, so it was just me and Mum. With relatives a long way away we didn't have big gatherings.

Now that DH and I are at the age where most of our relatives are no longer with us, and those that are are also a long way away doing their own thing, we enjoy a quiet Christmas with a few gifts, good food, and I like doing the decorations. DH didn't have big gatherings either as a child, so neither of us thinks we are missing anything.
