Present for DS that we can add to each year?

For my DD, we got her a charm bracelet for her first Xmas and each year we get her a charm representing one of her favourite things of the year so it will be a memory bracelet as well. We want to get something similar for my DS which we can add to every year. Any ideas?

It wouldn't be so much a memory collection but what about a Hornby train set? Ds had a basic train track and train a few years ago. My bil has built him a board to put it on and my mum has since bought him more track and a couple of carriages. He's 9 now and is more interested in it this year than he was when he first got it so I think it's something that he'll grow into.

My BIL still has his old train sets and was thrilled to have an excuse to show them to ds!

I bought my nephew some bookends for his Christening that were handcrafted and would age well. I also bought him some nicely bound adventure books with a special inscription sheet. I add to them each year, so he has a nice hardback collection of classics - Treasure Island, Robinson Crusoe, Man in the Iron Mask etc

I would have felt the same about the train set but was lucky enough to inherit a lot of Hornby.

Every year for DD so far I have bought a Fraser Bear with the year embroidered on the foot. They have had some absolutely gorgeous ones over the years, although this years isn't that brilliant!
