How do you make a wreath?

I must have far too much time on my hands.

Does anyone know how to make a holly wreath for my front door for Christmas?

I have lots of holly in the garden.

There must be a zillion websites showing how to do this. Why don't you Google it?

Easiest to make a frame first. Do you have any willow? Or anything else with long bendy stems? Twist 7 or 8 stems like that that round in a circle and secure it with garden wire to start with and then by tucking the stems into the frame. Then you have a sturdy frame to stick the ends of the holly twigs into. If you have any cypress you can use that too as a base to cover up sticks that the spikey holly leaves won't conceal. You might need more wire to hold it in place.

Loads of tutorials on Youtube - but they all seem to start with either a metal ring or an oasis, which I find too formal and somehow 'false' looking.

I prefer to do as Orm says and make my own frame, but mine's pretty casual, starting with long lengths of ivy wrapped into and around each other until I have a circle.
Then go around with greenery, offcuts from the tree or any pine-tyle small branches you have, making them drape softly around the edges. Then add in the holly, as many berries as poss, plus any extras you want like dried oranges, pine cones, ribbon - and I always like a shiny bird or a robin. Sometimes a few baubles. I think I use garden string to secure as I go.

My mum used to stuff it with damp moss to keep the greenery fresher. But you need wire netting for that.
