Our neighbour gave us a box of unopned Christmas lights (outdoor ones), as she was moving overseas and didn't want them.
So Dh is putting them up, on the porch and garage guttering. but there are 300 lights, on a huge cable. They were bundled up in 100's so 2 of the bundles aren't yet unopened and the other one has been doubled over and is still too long. I am sitting with feet up and cup of tea laughing at him

Xmas Envy I want outdoor lights.

Every year DH and I have this conversation:

Me: I really, really want some lights outside.
DH: When am I supposed to find time to put them up?
Me: I'll help. It won't take long.
DH: You mean I'll spend a day up and down ladders, pissing around with cables while you watch from the window telling me I'm doing it wrong.

Your post has confirmed what we both suspect to be true.

FW that's also the conversation DH and I have. Am standing my ground this year though and he will be purchasing and putting up tomorrow.......hopefully :)

You could always put them up yourself, FW.
I did, and I have issues with heights. I was most unimpressed when the house painter took them down one year and didn't put them back up!

I could put them up myself, but if I were to take over any ladder-climbing jobs, poor DH would be left with 'disposing of spiders' as his sole field of expertise.

Have you not heard of the 'crisis of masculinity'? It is up to me to make him feel necessary and valued in the 21st century. Xmas Grin
