I'm looking on eBay and Amazon now.
Am just worried that I'll end up with a broken one /get ripped off!

I could get a £50 Amazon voucher (using my nectar points) or is there a better retailer if I used my points?

Thank you.

Well yes but they do break and chip the cases very easily. Nintendo are great at replacing them in the first 12 months ( I have had 3 ).

How much is a new one?

DSs do get a hell of a battering in normal use so I'd be very wary about getting a second hand one from eBay.

A new one is about £120 I believe (I just don't have that kind of cash!)

Why do they get battered? Ours are fine.

a brand new ds lite is £90. you can buy a preowned one from gamestation for £55 and it comes with a year guarantee. (and yes, fine for 5 yo, my girls are 5 and 4 and both getting one this year)

i got one on ebay for dd last year. the hinge was a bit dodgy, and i knew that, but bought it anyway. Well dd has not put it down and obv it got worse, with the top screen losing it's colour.

I got one, another 2nd hand one in Game last week, £69.99 fully reconditioned, and tbh it looks like new. I would suggest you go in and get them to show you a selection, as the guy did in my local shop. The guy siad they often have really pristineone sin becuase so many people have then upgraded to the DSi

I think a nearly new one is a good idea because you get a one yr warranty, the same as a new one. One thing nintendo willnot cover or repair for free within warranty is the hinge. design fault that they don't care to bother with.
