Shiny new thread just in time for the new season - I'm thinking smoky, spicy gourmands as we head through autumn.

I also scored deal off full bottle of Adelhi Sun. I missed when they were on sale in Niche beauty so I jumped on it. I always end up with full bottle after liberty set.

The vanilla perfume from Skins, considering my complicated relationship with vanilla is good. No burned plastic, very smooth, it lasts great and I will give it a shot. I sold Demon Dancer cheaply- but this made the set 75 euro. DS took the Maison Crivelli and The Oudy perfume. All of the non perfume items will be used. The only true fail is the roasted green tea. It was a good at to share

I am worried what state will Selfridges advent arrive. So many reports of broken bottles.

Fabbrica Della Musa Pearl of Dawn will be my actual scent of the day, successfully blind swap with another one of us.

I dont think Selfridges will repeat the no boxes thing if they release one next year

It's just silly, most people that will buy 16 fragrances at once are fragheads that love having the boxes and when taking perfume when travelling it's safer. But lets see. I hope the initio survive!

Selfridges have form for this. The scent edit volume 2 was boxless, although vol 1 wasn't.

Maybe to prevent reselling of the individual items or something? Although you can re sell without box, its slightly harder/price will be less.

They will surely have lots of unsatisfied/ unhappy customers tho.

Jo Malone english pear freesia today, I gifted the one that came in harrods to my mum for her birthday and helped myself to a hefty spritz today.

Nishane A Hundred Silent Ways today. Really impressed with this scent, it's lovely and very wearable. The JL FAC was a total impulse buy but I''m glad I did just for this scent.

FDB patchouli gourmand today. I absolutely love it 🥰 I can't stop spraying it. I think I need a backup.

I have a sample, I will try it after my bath tonight. I want to explore the brand.

There was one in last year's Harrods. Havciat, I think. I didn't like that so wasn't expecting to like this but it's much more my thing. I'm not sure if this isn't a bit of a tea scent. I've not seen it described as such but it has that vibe for me.

My husband loves Hacivat as he is big Creed Avensis fan. He even took the female avensis sample I was kindly gifted from me! I want to try 100 silent ways, wulong cha and wulong cha x, meant to be seen. Maybe the new one too while I am at it!

Tried the patchouli gourmand, jurys still out but I'm leaning towards a yes/ keeping it. Plus the bottle is so pretty!

Was in john lewis earlier so tried bdk rouge smoking extrait and pas cecsoir extrait as I have the set of 3 x 10ml inc gris charnel extrait coming. Loved them both, such quality scents. Will probably keep those and shift the GC extrait as it's a lot harsher and more masculine than edp.

I think it will grow on you. I felt it was sneaky like that. 😂

I found the GC Extrait not be as nice and even DS agreed and he normally prefers the more masculine versions. I'm not convinced every scent needs an extrait version. Some are better than the edp but a lot of the time the original was just the best anyway.

Penhaligons Vaara today, from a sample swap with @JPMJuliz. I rather like it, not too heavily rose-laden but not as spicy as its Indian inspiration might imply. Nothing to stop me in my tracks but very pleasant.

I'm quite glad it's discontinued so I can't be tempted to buy any but I'll enjoy using up the samples.

So the jury's back in on the patchouli gourmand and it's a yes! I think I was a bit scared of the patchouli being an earthy dank smell but whilst you can still sense it, it's well balanced with the other notes - sweet, fruity. This is what I like about these FACs the chance to try smells and houses you perhaps wouldn't otherwise.

Sure I smelled Gris Charnel 5 times in store not liking it. It was only after the Harvey Nichols advent I got to properly test and appreciate it.

I am testing Hundred Silent Ways and Hundred Silent Ways X tonight. I would be very happy to get either in advent or if someone gifts me one but won't be going on my wishlist. I will do full day wear maybe. Next to test are the two wulong cha.

That's the exact journey I went on with it. I think it's a really well done fragrance. I must learn not to be too hasty with them. Especially when my DS is hanging around for cast offs. 😂

I hated the FdB, but admittedly I didnt try it on the skin because it was a quick no for me. I dont think its my type of scent so sold it off to a Mumsnetter for 60 pounds. Im sure I wouldve gotten more for it on the open market but rather have one of us enjoying it.

Sprayed myself with Delina Exclusif from the Hfac. I love the small bottle. Carrying it with me in handbag. This one isnt going in my suitcase.

Trying The Matcha from SFAC... not sure about this one. Prefer The Noir but it could grow on me.

@IDontHateRainbows I’d be happy to buy or swap it if you decide it isn’t for you. I think that and the Halfetti were the 2 things I most wanted from the SFAC. I’m on my second fs bottle of the le Labo & really love it for daytime / office wear. Would love to have a smaller bottle for handbag & travel.

Busy day, uni open days with teens, beautifully sunny but cool day...SOTD Sana Jardin Berber Blonde. It felt bright and daytime-y, but grounded enough for an autumn day by the sea. I flinch when I use any of my SJ stash, now it's discontinued 😑

I think I build Hundred Silent Ways too much in my head as I am actually shocked how unremarkable I find it. The X version is better but still not something I am interested in owning.

Rituals Velvet Aura for me today. Will the postman bring me some goodies today I wonder?
