Saw this on the Gender Critical reddit page, thought it was excellent!
Is this a ray of hope?

How do you figure that it is positive? Judges are being instructed to behave like trans activists?

Yes, they are. But unless this is given plenty of sunlight and fresh air, it will never change. I see this as a positive because it clearly puts these instructions to judges into stark opposition to victims rights.

I think it is the fact that there is now push-back against the guidance that is positive @MonsteraCheeseplant

Unless you are neck deep in this issue, reading court transcripts etc, then this stuff just goes over your head.
But an actual judge, saying it in a clear and concise article is a step towards this debate actually being heard by the masses.

Great they quoted Allison Bailey of LGB Alliance but this is showing there’s been regulatory capture isn’t it? Why will they do not say who’s lobbied them given the divisiveness of this political worldview?

I think that’s a good piece.

And incidentally, Dear Judicial College, it absolutely is in the public interest to know who’s responsible for the training here (spoiler alert - we already know who’s been doing the training). All this hiding and dissembling in itself is a red flag.

Agreed, Binterested. First they tried 'No debate', now theyre trying to cover their tracks. Trustworthy organisations are upfront and transparent.

I had reason to visit the building that houses the Ministry of Justice and the CPS recently.
I was stunned to walk in and be confronted with rainbow stonewall posters plastered across the walls, literally in your face walking through the entrance security area. Even in the lift - coronavirus poster one side of the doors stonewall rainbow the other. Of course it was all rainbow lanyards agogo and pronouns in the email addresses.
Weirdly I can't remember the loo but I think it must have been marked with a woman logo as I meekly went in without concern.
How many other political/social movements have been able to achieve this level of ubiquitous visual dominance? I can't think of any benign ones.
It was actually quite intimidating and it must be very uncomfortable to work there if you are heterosexual and GC.

I felt an unnatural rush of affection when I returned to the hospital where I work. They have an art charity that works with local artists and displays their work along the corridors, with regular change overs and all available to buy. We have some lovely wildlife photography on the walls at present.

Also a lot of rainbow lanyards.

Anyway I think one can assume the judges have been educated.

I was in Oxford for a conference at the weekend, and every single college was flying the rainbow flag. Stonewall everywhere.

On the one hand a witness has to swear to tell the truth (if they're Christian they may believe they will go to Hell for eternity if they don't) but they will also be compelled to call a bearded man a woman because that's how he identifies, and be compelled to say they are cis, even though in both cases this lie is also being used by the abuser to continue the abuse

How on earth is that appropriate? They are a political lobby group. If the entrance was plastered in Conservative posters, would that be deemed okay? How is explicit promotion of a political lobby group's agenda compatible with judicial impartiality?

At least one victim of violence by a transgender woman has been reprimanded in court for using male pronouns while describing the attack. Finding the defendant guilty, the judge refused the victim compensation, saying that when asked to refer to the defendant as ‘she’, the victim had done so with ‘bad grace’ or continued to use ‘he’.

Does anyone know any more details on this bit of the article? It's suggesting the judge refused victim of a violent attack by a TW because she used 'he' to describe the male who attacked her?! Is this for real? What kind of awful scary world are we living in right now. This is abhorrent.

Sorry I'm assuming the victim is a woman. Could be a male victim.

What the word about when you reach the tip of the mountain about this subject

The person who physically attacked Maria Mclachlan had bragged about an intention to do so prior to the assault. That shows premeditation. The motivation for the assault was to violently silence a woman for having the temerity to have a political opinion. What sentence is appropriate for that crime? I don't know what sentence was given, but I know for sure I will regard it as woefully inadequate.

I found it really shocking.

Compelled speech in a courtroom is the thin end of a dangerous wedge.

As a lawyer the compelled speech point really riles. Forcing a victim to pander to her attacker is plain wrong.
